Attachment 1: A Brief Introduction to Women Leadership Academy Based on the resources and brand influence of the World Women University Presidents Forum, Women Leadership Academy was jointly launched by Communication University Of China and Jiangsu Educational Development Foundation Of Chinese and Foreign Women University Presidents. The academy registered at the Ministry of Civil Affairs on November 29 th,2013, and was inaugurated on the opening ceremony of the Sixth World Women University Presidents Forum on September 6 th,2014. The academy was established under the instruction and with the support of the Ministry of Education, State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television of The People s Republic of China, and All-China Women s Federation. PhumzileMlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and the Executive Director of UN Women, and Irina Georgieva Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO sent their regards by video on the inaugurating ceremony. I. Nature and Purposes Women Leadership Academy is a non-governmental and non-profit organization registered at and administered by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It is dedicated to the study and promotion of women leadership, especially in the field of higher education. The academy facilities international cooperation and innovation in regards to women higher education and studies of women leadership. It aims at building up an authoritative non-governmental think tank in the field of study and consultancy of Chinese women leadership. II. Operational Activities According to the principles and purposes of the academy, its operational activities include but not limited to: 1. Host at a regular basis the World Women University Presidents Forum, its Sub-Forums and other sociable that facilitate international cooperation on women affairs. 2. Work on academic studies that aim to promote women leadership(especially in the field of higher education); Set up data platform for women leadership development; Publish academic report on women leadership. 3.Design courses and complementary textbooks for training of women leadership; Carry out advanced training courses that enhance womenleadership(especially in the field of higher education). III. Major Achievements 1.Forum Organizing. In September, 2014, theacademy successfully host the 6 th World Women University President Forum.The Forum invited more than 200 delegates from 57 nations and districts of the world, with the theme Education, Women and Leadership.The Forum also inaugurated the academy and promoted it to the global community. To supple the Belt and Road project of China, the academy host the World Women University Presidents Forum of South Asia in Katmandu, and a ceremony to donate facilities to thecollege of Journalism and Mass Communication. 2.Scientific Research. The academy undertook Humanities and Social Sciences Major Projects of Ministry of Education entitled with A Study on World Women Education and the Group of Women

University Presidents in Modern University System. As one part of the research achievements, 50 book series of World Women s Universities and Women University Presidents Series, sponsored by the national publishing foundation, have been published by the Communication University of China in 2014. Besides, in 2015, the academy successfully applied another Humanities and Social Sciences Major Projects of Ministry of Education studying on Popularization of Higher Education and Improvement of Women Elites and Their Leadership in the Era of Media Convergence. 3.International Cooperation. The academy has reached an agreement of cooperative framework with UNESCO, to organize advanced courses, forums and academic activities concerning women leadership. Based on the World Women University Presidents Forum, the Academy aims to establish cooperative relationship with European Women University Conference, American Women Educational Federation, African Women Educational Forum and other international organizations of women affairs. IV. Development Prospects As a non-governmental think tank and research institute of public welfare, Women Leadership Academy aims to function as a high-level, international and comprehensive academic entity. Driven by its three core operations(forum organizing, scientific research and high-end training), the Academy undertakes scientific research, policy consultancy, professional training, public opinion guidance and public diplomacy. The academy is a think tank of women perspective, and it will contribute to the promotion of women leadership, the notion of a harmonious society and harmonious world.

Attachment 2: Introduction to World Women University Presidents Forum Launched by Communication University of China (originally Beijing Broadcast Institute) in August 2001, the World Women University Presidents Forum (WWUPF) aims to pool the strength of women university presidents all over the world and to create an international platform for women university presidents so as to communicate and collaborate, and to share new ideas and thoughts in the fields of higher education development and women leadership promotion. Six forums and six sub-forums have been successfully held ever since the establishment of the WWUPF. The first forum with the theme of The Strategy for the Development of Higher Education in the New Century was held in Beijing in August 2001, gathering 106 women university presidents from 8 countries and regions. The second forum was held in Beijing in September 2004 with the theme of Communication, Cooperation and Development. 125 women university Presidents from 19 countries and regions attended the forum. The third forum was hosted in Beijing and Nanjing respectively in August 2006. 118 women university presidents from 29 countries and regions gathered together, focusing on the theme of Harmonious World & Culture Diversity: The Responsibility of University and Media. The fourth forum was held in Nanjing in September 2009. In the background of the global economic crisis, 120 women university presidents from 35 countries and regions shared their views on the theme of The Ecology and the Sustainable Development of Universities. The fifth forum was organized in Xiamen in November 2011, gathering 119 women university presidents from 33 countries and regions in order to contribute to the subject of The Inclusive Development of Culture and Education: Women University Presidents Mission and Prospective Achievements. In September 2014, the sixth forum was held in Beijing with the theme of Women, Education and Leadership, drawing 178 women university presidents from 54 countries and regions. The forum is held every two or three years in China, while during the interval, a sub-forum is held around the world. The Oceania sub-forum was held in November 2007 in Massey University, New Zealand, with the theme of Female Teachers Training and the Development of Future Women Leadership. In June 2008, the Asia sub-forum was held in Tokyo,Japan, with the theme of Women s Higher Education: Against an Aging Background. The North America sub-forum was organized in September 2008 in Hawaii, the United States, with the theme of Global Dialogue: Women in Higher Education. The Euro-Asia sub-forum was held in May 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey, with the theme of Beyond the Glass Ceiling, Beyond the Continents. In August 2012, the Africa sub-forum was held in Harare, Zimbabwe, with the theme of Development, Equality and Openness. In October 2013, the South America sub-forum was held in Monterrey, Mexico, with the theme of The Innovation Path for the Promotion of Women Leadership in Higher Education. Apart from organizing the forums and sub-forums, the WWUPF also carried out a variety of academic research and cultural activities. A 15-episode television feature film entitled Melodious Earth about women university presidents in 12 countries has been shot and broadcasted in the China Central Television. The Forum has also completed the project World Women s Higher

Education and Women University President Research, and published 50 books as a series of World Women University Presidents and Women s Universities. During the past 14 years, the Forum has gathered about 1000 attendances of women university presidents from 90 countries and regions. Their valuable ideas toward the development of higher education have highlighted the leading role of the women university presidents, making the Forum a most influential brand one in the international higher education community. The Seventh World Women University Presidents Forum will be held in Shih Hsin University in Taipei, China, in October 2016.We look forward to working together with you.
