Statewide Economic Development Summit The Baton Rouge Area Chamber, in partnership with the eight regional economic development organizations throughout the state, will host a Statewide Economic Development Summit on April 11 at the Crowne Plaza Baton Rouge. Leadership Program The Baton Rouge Area Leadership Program was founded as a program of the BRAC to prepare a diverse group of professionals for leadership positions in the community. There are now over 1,000 graduates of the program, many of whom serve in leadership positions on boards, commissions, and hold local, state, or federal elected offices. Major s The Program begins with an announcement breakfast, typically attended by 200 people comprised of the newly selected class, their colleagues and family members, Leadership Program alumni, and community leaders. The breakfast is held in early August, with details. Tickets for the breakfast are $20. The Program closes with a graduation dinner typically attended by more than 200 people in early June. Tickets for the dinner are $50. 2018 Super Region Canvas: A Benchmarking Workshop Baton Rouge Area business and community leaders will make their tenth trip in 2018 to reflect upon important policy issues facing our community and learn how the destination region addresses similar matters. The Super Region Canvas: A Benchmarking Workshop will be a joint effort between BRAC and GNO, Inc., in conjunction with the Office of Mayor- President of East Baton Rouge. Business leaders from the Southeast Louisiana Super Region, including the Baton Rouge Area, Greater New Orleans, and the Houma-Thibodaux region, are expected to participate. Previous workshops were held in Austin, Nashville, Raleigh-Durham, Portland, Richmond, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Central Florida, Phoenix/Tucson and Panama City, Panama. General Business and Networking Second Home Legislative Reception BRAC will once again partner with the City of Baton Rouge to continue the tradition of hosting the premier launch party for the start of the 2017 legislative session. The Second Home Legislative Reception welcomes Louisiana legislators back to Baton Rouge, their home away from home during this time of service to our state. The party starts immediately following the governor s address to the legislature. Guests will enjoy live entertainment and creative cuisine from some of the region s best restaurants and caterers. The event is well attended by members of the legislature, other state and local government officials, and the business community. General Business and Networking Around the Table In 2017, BRAC will host the fourth annual Around the Table to help newcomers in the region build connections and establish roots. Additionally, it will bring residents together for discussions about how to make our region a better place to live and work.
