Foundation Annual Report and Unaudited supplemental Information Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2012 Ref. WNC-2 (WNC FOUNDATION 11/30/12) Ref. WNC-2, Page 1 of 7

It is with pleasure that the Foundation provides this annual report to the Board of Regents. Fiscal Year 2012 was a successful year for the Foundation due to continued efforts to retain donors and generate community support for WNC programs. The WNC Foundations pledges, employee giving campaign, new grant programs and student scholarships surpassed the level of contributions received in previous years. Several factors influenced the increase in giving including our annual employee giving program. The 2012 program increased by 8% and employees gave a total of $78.867.00 in pledges towards student scholarships and programs. Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center partnered with the college through a gift of $80,000.00 to allow WNC to hire an additional full-time nursing instructor for 2 years to expand its nursing program to meet the continuing need for nurses in our communities. The Foundation has awarded over $92,000.00 in scholarships to 139 students, including; four new scholarships and a new $55,000.00 endowment scholarship for Veterans. This fiscal year the WNC Foundation also received a substantial grant from NV Energy to support WNC s Applied Industrial Technology program and purchase the Industrial Electrical Wiring Learning System. This system provides hands-on training for students in electrical wiring, in order to better meet the workforce needs of local business and industry. In addition the grant supported the WNC Summer Bridge program, designed to promote college success and increase graduation rates among first time degree seeking students. The grant was used to provide students with scholarships to pay for tuition, fees and books for the program. The Foundation hosted two successful fundraisers in 2011-2012 that included the WNC Golf Classic and Athletics Non Event that raised funds for WNC athletics, performing arts, scholarships and the Jack C. Davis Observatory. Each of these programs greatly enhances the college experience for students here at WNC and the programs rely heavily on Foundation support for their continued success. This year the Foundation engaged an independent accounting firm in a full audit of its financial statements. We are pleased to note that the audit revealed no management points warranting reporting. The WNC Foundation is confident that the efforts taken to build new partnerships within the community, to appreciate and steward donors, and to enhance campaigns and improve long-term development strategy and goals will allow the Foundation to continue to function successfully and maximize resources for WNC. Our board of trustees and donors remain loyal supporters of the college and are committed to their role in the advancement of education here at Western Nevada College. (WNC FOUNDATION 11/30/12) Ref.
