TABBS the australasian bioenergy and bioproducts symposium Hosted by Life Sciences Queensland Limited Invitation to Participate Dear Colleagues and Friends Life Sciences Queensland Limited (LSQ) is pleased to invite submissions for topics, themes, speakers and sponsors for The Australasian Bioenergy and Bioproducts Symposium (TABBS). The Symposium will be held in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, 25 October 2013. Bioenergy and Bioproducts offer enormous potential to companies, investors, researchers, and policy makers to transition bioinventions from research to market. Following on from the inaugural event in 2012, this Symposium will provide an excellent overview of the Bioenergy and Bioproducts markets, latest trends, products and technological advances. It will investigate aspects of the Bioeconomy, from the different products being developed, issues in supply and demand, sustainability, feedstock diversity and opportunities, the regulatory environment both nationally and globally. Decades of life-sciences research and the development of increasingly powerful tools for obtaining and using biological data have brought us closer to the threshold of a previously unimaginable future and we believe that strong partnerships are vital to the success of any emerging industry, where the private sector with the innovation and capital and the public sector with consistent policy support, can work together to achieve what was once not possible. Energy independence, food security better health outcomes, environmental processes and public concerns - these are all issues that need to be kept in balance to ensure that the bioeconomy is an integral part of our future wellbeing and prosperity. Creating a bioeconomy isn t just a challenge to meet, it s an opportunity to seize and an opportunity that will create new businesses, new industries, and millions of new jobs. I look forward to welcoming you to sunny Queensland in October 2013 to explore why the Bioeconomy is a growing opportunity. Mario Pennisi Chief Executive Officer, Life Sciences Queensland Limited. 2
