The Malvern JROTC Leopard Battalion invites you to participate in our Color Guard, Drill Team, and PT Competition. We will host the competition at Malvern High School on Saturday, January 20th, 2018. The gym is located at 1517 South Main St. in Malvern. Directions to the gym are contained as Enclosure 1. 2. Each JROTC Program may enter up to three Color Guards, one Unarmed Drill Team, one Armed Drill team and two PT Teams in the competition. The entry fee will be $25.00 for each team with a maximum entry fee of $125.00. The entry form is contained as Enclosure 2 and should be returned NLT 11 January 2018. 3. The three Color Guards will be one all-male, one all-female and one Co-ed. Members of the Co-ed Color Guard may participate in the all male and all female Color Guard; however, the Commander of the Co-ed Color Guard cannot be the same commander of the male or female Color Guard. 4. The uniform will be Class A or B and there will not be an inspection. Trophies will be awarded for first through fourth place and one Commander s Trophy. 5. We will begin grading events at 0800 and the awards ceremony is scheduled for 1330. If we finish early, we will move up the time for the awards ceremony. The order of competition will be the order of arrival. Annotate your expected arrival time on your entry form. DO NOT USE COLOR GUARD DRILL TEAM MEMBERS FOR FITNESS UNLESS THEY HAVE ALREADY COMPETED IN COLOR GUARD AND DRILL PRIOR TO FITNESS BEGINING AT 1000. WE WILL NOT HOLD UP COLOR GUARD AND DRILL COMPETITION RUNS TO WAIT ON CADETS TO FINISH THE PT COMPETITION. It is my intent to avoid having schools waiting for other schools that do not start their Color Guard and Drill runs until after the PT Competition is complete, Cadets change clothes, rehearse, etc. Late arriving schools must plan to do their Color Guard and Drill runs while the PT Competition is in progress. 6. Directions to Malvern High School: From Pine Bluff and Sheridan: Follow Arkansas Highway 270 west. When Highway 270 intersects with US Highway 67, turn left. Travel to the second traffic signal and turn left on Main Street. Travel south on Main Street for approximately one half mile. You will pass a Fina Winners Circle on the left, cross Highland Street and pass the First Assembly of God Church on your left. The next building after the church on the left is the Superintendent s Office which has an electronic sign on the edge of the street. Turn left into the student parking lot between the Superintendent s Office and the Gymnasium. The JROTC Building is between the back of the gymnasium and the back of the school of the high school. From Little Rock, Benton or Bryant: Travel southwest on I-30 in the direction of Texarkana. Take exit 98 A and follow Arkansas Highway 270 into downtown Malvern. When you get into downtown Malvern, Highway 270 will turn left. You need to continue to travel south (straight) on Main Street for approximately one half mile. You will pass a fire station on your left. A short distance further there will be a Fina Winners Circle on the left. This will be the intersection of Main and Highland Street. Continue south on Main Street and you pass the First Assembly of God Church on your left. Turn right into the student parking lot between the Gymnasium and the Superintendent s Office which has an electronic sign on the edge of the street. ANNEX A COLOR GUARD 1. The Color Guard will consist of four members -- two color bearers and two guards. The commander must carry the National Colors. 2. The boundaries for this competition will be 50 X 50 feet. 3. There is no minimum time for this event. The maximum time is seven (7) minutes. The time will start when the judge instructs the team to begin. The time will stop when the team commander reports out by stating, Sir, this completes our drill, or at the end of seven minutes. 4. The team will report to the ready area ten (10) minutes before the starting time. While in the ready area, the coach may assist the team. Once the team has entered the drill area, there will be no coaching. On a signal from the head judge, the Commander will move the team to a spot of his/her choosing within the drill area, halt, and bring the team to present arms. Upon arrival of the head Judge, the Commander will report, Sir, the color guard is present for competition. (The Colors will be cased at this time.) The team commander will complete the sequence outlined in Appendix 1 of this Annex. The commands must be given from memory. (No notes may be used.) This is the same sequence of commands is found in CCR 145-8-3, page 35, dated 24 July 2015 which is used by the 5 th Brigade Inspection Team. 5. You may enter up to three Color Guard Teams. The three Color Guards will be one all male, one all-female and one Co-ed. Members of the Co-ed Color Guard may participate in the all-male and all-female Color Guard; however, the Commander of the Co-ed Color Guard cannot be the same commander of the male or female Color Guard. 6. There are 144 possible points in the Color Guard Competition. 7. The tiebreaker for trophy positions will be a drill off using the full sequence.

ANNEX B Drill Team 1. The Drill Team will consist of minimum of eleven (11) cadets a minimum of 9 marching cadets, a Platoon Leader and Platoon Sergeant. 2. The boundaries for this competition will be 50 X 75 feet. 3. There is no minimum time for this event. The maximum time is seven (7) minutes. The time will start when the judge instructs the team to begin. The time will stop when the team commander reports out by stating, Sir, this completes our drill, or at the end of seven minutes. 4. The team will report to the ready area ten (10) minutes before the starting time. While in the ready area, the coach may assist the team. Once the team has entered the drill area, there will be no coaching. On a signal from the head judge, the Platoon Sergeant will move into a position of his /her choosing and command fall in, prepare the platoon for competition and then turn the platoon over to the Platoon Leader. Upon arrival of the head Judge, the Platoon Leader will report, Sir, the platoon is present for competition. The Platoon Leader will complete the sequence outlined in Appendix 2 of this Annex. The commands must be given from memory. This is the same sequence of commands is found in CCR 145-8-3, page 31, dated 24 July 2015 which is used by the 5 th Brigade Inspection Team. 5. There are 96 possible points in the Unarmed Drill Team Competition. There are 108 points possible in the Armed Drill Competition. 6. The tiebreaker for trophy positions will be a drill off using the full sequence.

ANNEX C PHYSICAL FITNESS COMPETITION 1. This is an individual event based competition consisting of three events: Push Ups (2 minutes), Sit Ups (2 minutes), and 1 mile run. 2. Teams will consist of 5 Cadets. 3. Push Up, Sit Up scores, and run times will be based on raw scores. Team scores will be based on the total score for the team. Awards will be given for 1 st -3 rd place teams and first place in male and female individual category. 4. Cadets participating in the Physical Fitness competition must be present and ready to participate when the competition begins at 10:00 am. 5. The competition will be conducted at the Malvern High School athletic complex.
