Students are selected based on individual needs and teacher recommendations. Parents have the ability to approve or deny the recommendation. The sessions will last 4 weeks and meet 3 days per week from Tuesday to Thursday. Classes will begin on July 10 and end August 2. All classes will take place in Dwight from 8:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. There will not be a charge for the summer session. A school vehicle will provide transportation from Brainard to Dwight, additional transportation needs will be the responsibility of the parent. East Butler teachers will lead the sessions focusing on math and reading. Please contact Mr. Biltoft at school if you have additional questions. NOTE TO PARENTS REGARDING LUNCH ACCOUNTS: As the end of the school year is quickly approaching, all lunch accounts must be kept in good standing by having a positive balance at all times. If your child s account has a negative balance they may be served an alternate lunch. The school can not carry negative balances. You can register to check the balance in your account by going to the lunch login icon on the school website and set up your account. You can also set up your family to put money in your lunch account through the efunds icon on the website to save sending cash or a personal check to school. If you have any questions please call the school office in Brainard 402-545-2081. TOPP NOTE: It s time to celebrate! Summer is right around the corner. We ask all of you teenagers out there to make the responsible choice. Remember, Zero Tolerance means zero chances. Stay alive Don t Drink and Drive and Have A Safe Summer! LOOKING AHEAD: 2019 SENIOR GRADUATION PICTURE FOR THE NEWSPAPERS - We will be using the senior picture taken on school picture day at East Butler in August for the local papers graduation section the following May. The senior composite, yearbook, and slideshow will still use the photo turned in by the student. LIBRARY REMINDER : All library materials need to be returned before summer break.

NURSE S NOTES: Just a reminder to parents that if medication was supplied by you, whether it was a prescription medication or an over the counter medication, for your child here at school it will need to be picked up by you, by the end of the school year. If your student will require prescription medication next year a new form will need to be filled out and signed by the doctor and returned at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year. Forms can be found in the nurse's office or on our website. New forms need to be filled out every year. A new Asthma/Allergy Action Plan will need to be filled out by the child's doctor every year also, so if your child needs to carry an EpiPen, has Asthma or Allergies, please print out the form from our website and have the doctor fill it out and return to the school for the 2018-2019 school year. Please, fill out the Over The Counter Medication form (also found on our website) for your student and return to the school by the beginning of next school year. This will allow the nurse to administer over the counter medications like Tylenol, Ibuprofen and other OTC pills, drops and ointments to your student. These medications are stocked by the school, eliminating the need to bring those types of medications to the school. Students are NOT allowed to carry or transport medications unless it is an emergency life saving medication and it has been discussed with the School Nurse. Thank you for understanding. If you have any questions, feel free to call or email me. 7-11 GRADE FINAL TESTS will be given on Tuesday, May 22 and Wednesday, May 23. All students in grades 7-11 will take second semester tests in all classes unless they meet the following criteria and opt not to take any semester tests: 1) Students must not miss more than four days and have more than four tardies during the school year. School sponsored activities during the school day do not count as absences. Examples of absences that do count are: illness, doctor or dentist appointments, driver's test, or any absence that is not school related. 2) Students should not have received any disciplinary infraction during the school year. 3) Students must have an average of 86% or higher in all second semester classes. A grade of 85% or lower in any one class will require the student to take second semester tests in all classes. 4) Any student with an unexcused absence during the year will take final tests; 5) Any student who violates the drug/alcohol and tobacco policy will not qualify for the option of not taking final tests. Students who qualify for opting out are encouraged to take second semester tests to raise their grades. The test list will be available on Monday, May 21.
