The incentives are being made available to physicians through Medicare and Medicaid. Depending upon when physicians attested, a maximum of $44,000 or $65,000 could be obtained through Medicare or Medicaid, respectively over the course of the incentive program. These are per-physician, not per-practice incentives. Physicians can declare themselves to be under Medicare or Medicaid, but not both. The declaration can change one time during the program. MEANINGFUL USE The concept of MU is simple: in order to obtain incentives, physicians must declare through Attestation that they are actually using their certified EHR in a meaningful way, and have done so for at least a period of 90 consecutive days.
