ACF Champion Cadet Clare Shore Trophy ACF Master Cadets may compete for the Claire Shore Trophy and Silver medal Annual competition, over a weekend in September, tests both physical and mental aptitude. The Competition is judged on leadership, teamwork, self- discipline and unselfishness; all attributes that are developed through membership of the ACF 6 8 September 2013 Closing date for entries 14 July 2013

Nijmegen Marches International 4 Day march Takes place in the Netherlands in July every year Organised by the Royal Dutch league for Physical Culture and Dutch Military 40km (25 miles) per day for 4 Days 40,000 Civilian and 5000 marchers take part each year Approx 800 cadets take part each year Rigorous Training starts the week after remembrance in September Must qualify and take part in a two day 80km march Anyone interested t The CQM would like to take a team in 2014 Lots of training!!!!!

Mathew Bacon Bursary OPPORTUNITIES FOR CADETS TO TAKE PART IN OUTWARD BOUND CLASSIC COURSES AND EXPEDITIONS In September 2005, Major Matthew Bacon of the Intelligence Corps, was tragically killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq. Major Bacon was a former Surrey ACF cadet as well as being a career soldier. Funds available to fund 4 places nationally Bursary 70% Personal contribution from the candidate 15% Contribution from the Army Cadet AT Budget 15% The Classic Outward Bound Course. A 3 week course including a wide range of Adventurous Training and Challenge Pursuits activities, based at the Outward Bound Centres at Ullswater in the Lake District, Aberdovey in central Wales and Loch Eil, near Fort William. The course also includes a Community or Ecology based Service Project and an unaccompanied final expedition. Candidates for this course may well have little previous adventurous training experience. The full cost of the courses shown in Annex A, serials 1-3 is 1,399; the cost to Bursary candidates will be 209.85. The full cost of the courses shown in Annex A, serials 4-7 are 1,349; the cost to candidates is 202.35. UK Expeditions. These are more appropriate for those with some previous formal adventurous training experience. On offer is a 3-week expedition providing opportunities to explore the more remote parts of Snowdonia, The Lake District i t or the Scottish Highlands. The full cost of the expedition is 1,449; cost to Bursary candidates will be 217.35. Be a serving AND committed member of the ACF. Have a demonstrated interest in AT, preferably by attending a CCAT Proficiency Course.
BTEC - ILM ILM LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN TEAM LEADING This nationally recognised adult award from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) is available to senior cadets who complete Master Cadet Course There are three components to the award which all need to be completed: Pass the relevant cadet course. Complete a 750-1000 word mini project based around planning a local community event which demonstrates team leading skills learned on the course. Pass a series of short answer questions.
Duke of Westminster s Award The Duke of Westminster Award is an annual prize which has been created by CVQO to recognise the most outstanding Cadet. Cadets are nominated by their unit headquarters and must be enrolled in CVQO's BTEC Programme in order to be eligible for the award. Nominees are judged on their achievements within Cadets, academic development, contribution to society and overall communication skills. The Selection Event CVQO host a 36 hour selection process in the Quantock Hills where the cadets are assessed in a variety of team tasks. 15 cadets from the CCF, SCC, ACF and ATC are shortlisted from the nominations. Not only is each cadet competing for this highest accolade from CVQO but also for a place as one of the top 9 cadets to participate in a 3 week expedition to South Africa
