Employer Case Study Birchall Engineering is a leading local mechanical and electrical building services company, based in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The company recently introduced a new CAFM database system to manage maintenance schedules and create reactive works for their engineering workforce. Under normal circumstances, the training required to give staff competence on the system would have been expensive and limited to a few employees. However, with the support of Stoke on Trent College and the ESF Skills Support and Retraining for Employment fund, Birchalls were able to carry out much more thorough and widespread systems training, across a wide range of staff from managers to administrators in different departments. Robert Hamnett Compliance and Asset Manager at Birchall Engineering said: We ve been really pleased with the training that has been possible through Stoke on Trent College s ESF Skills Support and Retraining funding. It has enabled us to introduce a brand new system to the business and get lots of staff up to the right level of competence quickly and at no cost. I would recommend other businesses who are looking to retrain their employees in a similar way to make the most of this funded training whilst it s available and contact the ESF team at Stoke on Trent College now. 7
