Interested in becoming a Dunlap Education Board Member? Purpose of the Dunlap Education (DEF): The raises private sector funds to support academic goals and achievement at every school in our district. As the s fundraising becomes effective, additional funds raised annually are granted to the district to support projects and programs that enhance the academic experience district-wide. Profile of the Successful Board Member: The minimum time commitment for a DEF Board Member includes 2 hours per month plus an additional 2 days per year. DEF Board Meetings will take place at the district office of the school district. There are also one or two days per year scheduled for long-range strategic planning. These sessions will generally last 4-6 hours. However, the s success in building and maintaining community support comes from board members that are able to make significant contributions of time and resources, have the determination to complete projects in a timely way with little oversight, and, most importantly, have a passion for true excellence in education! Qualifications: A well-functioning school system benefits everyone in the district. Reflecting that communitywide impact, the DEF board consists of individuals with varied backgrounds and includes parents, teachers, other licensed professionals, and representatives of local businesses. Everyone is welcome! However, given the nature of our events and projects, we strongly encourage individuals to apply if they have specific experience in project management, public and media relations, fundraising, web design, and/or event planning. Benefits of Board Membership: DEF Members receive no compensation for serving on the s board. Minimal overhead and organizational cost ensures that the is able to direct more than 90% of all donations towards District initiatives. DEF Board members do get opportunities to work closely with school administrators and Board of Education members and help determine which projects, grants, and initiatives should receive sponsorship. Helping to create non-governmental financial support for the District is one of the most important and effective methods for fostering sustained academic excellence. Our DEF Board of Directors serves as the working body for The Dunlap Education. The DEF Board is responsible for researching district needs, establishing goals and outcomes, fiscal responsibility and resource development, fundraising, and monitoring results. Each DEF Board Member should have a sincere belief in the mission of the DEF. Each member of the DEF Board of Directors plays an important role in helping our achieve results. The core expectations, duties, and responsibilities of each DEF Board Member are: Attendance: Each DEF Board Member should make a diligent effort to attend every DEF Board meeting. We have six (6) regular meetings per year in addition to planning workshops and committee meetings. We feel it is a core responsibility of each DEF Member to attend and participate in as many meetings and workshops as possible. Committee Participation: Each DEF Board Member shall actively participate on at least one of our standing committees. Active committee members meet on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. Major Event Participation: Each DEF Board Member will be asked to attend most, if not all, signature events. Financial Expectation: Each DEF Board Member shall contribute and participate, as well as encourage others to contribute and participate in activities, events, and fundraising and development activities. The minimal expected donation to the by each DEF Board Member will be $750.00 per year. Networking Expectations: Each Board Member will actively communicate and promote the DEF mission to the community. Each DEF Board Member is encouraged to solicit at least one business partnership per month. We also ask that you assist in the recruitment of volunteers to serve on various committees.
