Proposal Summary Review Proposal detail information is available to provide approvers and others with details and print access on the Summary page, reducing the need to navigate to the proposal record and back again to the summary to approve. From the Summary page, the user can see all the relevant information for the proposal and be able to drill down into more specific proposal data for review and approval. Navigate to the Proposal Summary Screen It is important to link your proposal to Grants.Gov early. Why? There are a small number of opportunities that include forms that are not supported by Coeus. In these situations Coeus will be used to route the proposal only. Link early to avoid duplication of entry in Coeus and the system of submission. The Grants.gov link brings in the required forms which must be completed and the corresponding attachment types that must be used. The Grants.gov link activates any required questionnaires which must be completed to support the submission. The Grants.gov link enables form validations that ensure required information is entered. Enter the required fields on the General Info tab (indicated with a red asterisk). Save entries using the Save button at the bottom of the screen. Next enter the funding opportunity number in the field provided. Click on the Grants.gov link on the left navigation bar Click on show to view the opportunity details. Click on hide to return to the prior view and hide opportunity details 1 P age
Click on Select to link the opportunity to the proposal Alternately you can search for a Grants.Gov opportunity using a CFDA no. The Grants.gov screen will display all available opportunities associated with that CFDA no. Enter the CFDA Number on the General Info tab and click Save. Navigate to the Grants.Gov screen. A list of available opportunities will be presented. View or Select the desired opportunity. Enter either a Funding Opportunity Number or a CFDA Number in the appropriate field on the General Info tab. Do not enter both. 2 P age
If all forms in the opportunity are not available, you will receive the following message: This proposal is not eligible for Coeus transmission to Grants.gov because a required form is currently not available. If this is a mandatory Grants.gov submission, you must retrieve this opportunity from Grants.gov. The Grants.Gov Screen After selecting the Grants.gov funding opportunity you will now see the complete Grants.gov screen. This screen has two sections. The top section is mainly informational. Click on the Instruction Page URL to view the application instructions. If this proposal is a Change/Corrected submission, update the Submission Type dropdown to Change Corrected Application. If this proposal is a Pre-Proposal, update the Submission Type drop down to Preapplication. Otherwise, leave the selection as Application The bottom section of the Grants.Gov screen lists the forms included in the funding opportunity package. Mandatory forms are indicated with a green in both the Mandatory and Included columns. Optional or conditionally required forms should be checked to include when appropriate. Select Another Opportunity returns user to the Grants.gov screen listing of funding opportunities that match the funding opportunity or CFDA number entered on the General Info screen Delete Opportunity deletes the selected opportunity and returns user to General Info screen Validate checks included forms for submission errors Print Selected Forms renders a pdf view of forms checked in the Select to Print column Save changes made to include optional forms using the Save button. Note: The Submit to Grants.gov button is disabled the actual submission to Grants.Gov is done by the NU Authorized Official in the Office of Research Administration and Finance (ORAF) after all other approvals have been recorded. Other Parts of the Proposal Once the proposal has been properly linked to Grants.Gov the Grants.gov logo should appear in the proposal header. It is visible on all proposal screens, except Budget screens. The link to Grants.Gov will activate required questionnaires. This information is used to complete required entries on the Grants.Gov forms included in the submission and must be completed prior to proposal routing. A red check mark indicates the questionnaire has been completed. The link to Grants.Gov will activate the appropriate attachment types to be used with the included forms. These will now be included in the Attachment Type dropdown list for Proposal Attachments on the Upload Attachments screen. Create Proposal from Opportunity Search You have the option to search for an available opportunity prior to creating the proposal. 1. Log into Coeus 2. Select My Proposals in the masthead at the top of the screen. 3. Click on Grants.gov Opportunity Search 4. Enter a CFDA number or Opportunity ID 5. Click Search Note: Do not use CFDA number when searching for an NIH opportunity 6. Click on the double-headed arrows >> 7. Click on Create Proposal 5 P age
