Policing Our Own Physicians self-determine competency to care for patients, when they should retire, and when it is safe to return to work after recovering from substance abuse. We need peer assessment of riskadjusted indicators with risk improved statistical power, frequent written examination, regular simulation assessments, and mandatory retirement 8
