EAGLE CLUB SCHOLARSHIP FUND 2014 MEMBERSHIP GUIDE

A Message from the Director of Athletics, On behalf of the University of Southern Mississippi Athletics department and nearly 400 student-athletes, I would like to thank you for your support of the Eagle Club. Your decision to contribute to the Eagle Club is one of paramount importance, and your financial investment is vital to the success of our Golden Eagles. The Eagle Club was established in 1979 to assist Southern Miss Athletics by providing scholarship funding for our student-athletes. Since the Eagle Club s inception, thousands have proudly worn the black and gold while pursuing a degree from Southern Miss. Reaching the goal of graduation for these young men and women has been made possible by the continuous support of dedicated alumni, fans and friends just like you. As the costs of education and competition continue to rise, the resources necessary to maintain and improve our programs continue to increase. Likewise, our need for private funding to assist the Athletics department in offsetting the costs of scholarships increases as well. We need your involvement now more than ever. I invite you to make an investment today that will impact the future of Southern Miss Athletics. Renew your annual membership in the Eagle Club and purchase season tickets. Consider increasing your annual contribution to the next giving level and encourage your friends, family and colleagues to support the Eagle Club as well. Together, we can help Southern Miss Athletics achieve academic and competitive excellence. The rise to the top begins today with your investment. Thank you again for your support of Southern Miss Athletics! SMTTT! Bill McGillis Director of Athletics

WHY JOIN THE EAGLE CLUB? What is the Eagle Club? The Eagle Club Scholarship Fund is the fundraising division of the Southern Miss Athletics department, whose sole mission is to annually raise funds to provide nearly 400 student-athletes at Southern Miss with academic scholarships and educational support. All funds raised annually aid in offsetting these costs to the Southern Miss Athletics department. More than 2,700 dedicated alumni, friends and fans assist the Eagle Club in providing student-athletes the opportunity to pursue a college degree. Student-Athletes Need Your Support As a donor, you have an impact on each student-athlete at Southern Miss by helping to provide them a quality education and an opportunity to represent the Golden Eagles at the highest level. Student-athletes are true ambassadors of the university, and their hard work in competition and in the classroom is deserving of your support. Investing in the Eagle Club today builds the foundation for future Southern Miss Athletics programs and impacts student-athletes for years to come. A contribution at any level is greatly appreciated. How can you help? 1. Increase your annual gift by one giving level. 2. Recruit a new member to join the Eagle Club. 3. Join the Eagle Club for the first time.

WAYS TO GIVE Cash Gifts Most gifts to the Eagle Club take this form. Cash, checks made payable to the USM Athletic Foundation, or credit cards (VISA, MasterCard or American Express) are accepted. Automatic Payment Plans Through bank draft or an automatic charge by credit card, annual gifts may be paid over a monthly, quarterly or semi-annual schedule. Setting up an automatic payment takes only a few minutes by calling 601.266.5299. Thank you for your donation! Contributions to Southern Miss Athletics help give athletes like me scholarships to play the sport we love for a school we love even more. I am so privileged with this opportunity to play volleyball at Southern Miss your donations made that possible. -Elise Ames, Volleyball Gifts in Kind Donating needed goods and services is another way to build the strength of Southern Miss Athletics while offering the donor a tax deduction for the fair market value of the gift. Please consult your tax advisor concerning tax deductions. Southern Miss Employees University of Southern Mississippi employees are able to contribute their annual gifts through a monthly payroll deduction. All current Southern Miss employees will be credited 2:1 for every dollar donated to the Eagle Club Scholarship Fund. For example, a Southern Miss employee who donates $250 per year to the Eagle Club will receive the benefits of a $500 member.

Company Matching Gifts Many companies will match gifts to the USM Athletic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The initial gift, plus the matching portion, qualify the donor for benefits, priority seating and parking at the combined level and amount. Submit your company s matching gift form with your 2014 contribution. Stocks and Securities Donors may eliminate paying capital gains tax and receive an income tax charitable deduction for gifts of long-term appreciated securities. Estate Planning Donations through will provisions, life insurance policies and other bequests are accepted. Estate gifts may be made by donating a designated amount, a real asset or making a residual bequest. Planned gifts may offer excellent tax advantages. Endowments and Memorial Gifts Honorary and memorial gifts are a fitting tribute to someone s life and accomplishments. Families and friends can endow athletics scholarships to honor the memory of achievements of loved ones. Online Gifts Make a donation online, 24/7 by visiting www.southernmiss.com/eagle-club. The USM Athletic Foundation staff is available to visit with you about any of the above-mentioned options and to address any questions or concerns you may have. Please call us at 601.266.5299.

PROPEL SOUTHERN MISS ATHLETICS TO THE NEXT LEVEL! Southern Miss student-athletes work tirelessly in the classroom, in practice and in competition to take Southern Miss Athletics to the next level. In order to provide the resources needed to achieve greatness, the Eagle Club raises funds through private contributions from donors across the country. However, costs of tuition, room and board, and equipment continually rise. The Eagle Club must grow consistently in order to relieve the Athletics department of these expenses. We rely on the Southern Miss faithful to provide funding for resources for our deserving student-athletes. To meet the ever-increasing expenses, and to propel us to the next level, there are three ways every fan can support the growth of Southern Miss Athletics: 1. Increase your Eagle Club annual gift by one giving level. Increasing your financial support reiterates your belief that a quality education is a sound investment. Additionally, you are encouraging growth in skills and talent that allow Southern Miss to rise to the top! 2. Recruit a new member to the Eagle Club. Current donors are our greatest resource for growth. We are confident you know at least one person who should support the home team. If each member recruits one new member, we could relieve the scholarship bill in its entirety. 3. Join the Eagle Club for the first time. Joining the Eagle Club for the first time (or after a lapse in giving) enables you to make a significant impact in the lives of nearly 400 student-athletes and the future of Southern Miss Athletics on a national level. We encourage you to support one of these next level initiatives through your 2014 Eagle Club gift.
