The first club meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, has been changed to WEDNESDAY, October 3. It s still in Mrs. Vandusen s room, A131, right after school. Finally, it is time for the first book club meeting of the year. Join us on Wednesday during Flex to talk books and hear about the great plans for the year. See Mrs. Brunnett with any questions. You may have noticed the buckets in the lobby with the names of your administrators. The SGA is collecting your spare change to support the victims of Hurricane Florence. Each bucket has been assigned to an administrator. The administrator that receives the

most donations will receive a pie in the face at the pep rally by the president of the class that wins the spirit stick. Attention ASL Club! Please make a note! The first club meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, has been changed to WEDNESDAY, October 3. It s still in Mrs. Vandusen s room, A131, right after school. You are invited to help build and set the parameters for the newly forming WHS Advisory Council. Our hope is to build community supports to promote increased academic success and build a strong climate and culture at WHS. No flyer is necessary, and we receive a portion of all sales during that time. Fundraise now to have great senior events! The Westminster Volunteer Fire Department is holding an Open House for students ages 12-18 who are interested in becoming Junior Fire Fighters on Saturday, October 13 from 12-5. Junior

Fire Fighters are eligible to earn service hours for their participation with the Fire Department. No hours are given for attending the Open House. From the Counseling Office Need Money for College? The School Counseling Office presents our annual Financial Aid Night for Parents and Students. The presentation will be held on Tuesday, October 16th from 6 to 7:30pm in the WHS auditorium. Learn about the FAFSA and all the ways to receive Financial Aid..in one night. See Mr. Byrnes in the School Counseling Office with any questions. The 41st Annual Carroll County Public Schools College Fair will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Carroll Community College, located at 1601 Washington Road in Westminster. Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from more than 150 colleges and universities. Representatives from the military, technical schools, and training programs will also be at the fair. Counselors from CCPS high schools will be present to answer questions. Representatives from the Admissions and Financial Aid Offices of Carroll Community College will also be available to talk with students and parents. A representative from Allegany College will be visiting on Thursday, October 4th @ 9:00 AM. Interested students should sign up in the Counseling Office by Wednesday, October 3rd @ 2:30 PM.

Interested students should sign up in the Counseling Office by Tuesday, October 2nd @ 2:30 PM A representative from Emory & Henry College will be visiting on Wednesday, October 3rd @ 9:00 AM. Interested students should sign up in the Counseling Office by Monday, October 1st @ 2:30 PM Attention Seniors: The Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship is for seniors who will be furthering their education. This scholarship is based on community service, work, academics, and financial need. Deadline for applications November 15, 2018. Please stop the counseling office for more details. Attention students interested in taking the PSAT on Wed. Oct. 10th. Tickets are on sale now thru this Wed, Oct 3rd. The cost of the PSAT ticket is $18.00. You may pay with check made out to WHS or cash. Any student who is interested in the WHS Mock Trial team should come to an information session during Flex on Tuesday or after school on Wednesday. Any student who signed up for the Mock Trial Team at the beginning of the year will be requested to Mr. Robinson s room for Flex on Tuesday. If you cannot make that

meeting or if you are not requested, please come after school on Wednesday from 2:30 3:00 p.m. The Kamryn Lambert Foundation is pleased to announce that they will once again be able to award scholarships in Kamryn's name to members of the State of Maryland High School Graduating Class on 2019. Applications are available in the Counseling Office or on line for any students who plan to pursue a degree in nursing or other related medical field. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2019 and the application packet must include the completed application, essay and official transcripts. For more information on our scholarship and the other programs the Kamryn Lambert Foundation provides, please visit our website www.kamrynlambert.org Athletic Information There will be an informational meeting Wednesday October 3rd during flex in the third floor cafeteria for all students interested in participating in indoor track this year. Advisors, please allow all interested students to attend this meeting.
