Multi Mitigation Council Findings: December 2005 FEMA spent about $3.5 billion on mitigation grants between 1993 and 2003. Those grants will generate benefits (over 50 years): $14 billion in losses avoided, saving more than 200 lives and avoiding more than 4,500 injuries Savings to Federal Treasury $1 dollar spent from the federal treasury on mitigation grants potentially saves it about $3.65 in avoided postdisaster relief costs and increased federal tax revenues. 15
HMA Programs - Non-Disaster Grants Annual application window (Early June through early December) Submitted online through egrants system Support National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Pre Disaster Mitigation Flood Mitigation Assistance Repetitive Flood Claims Severe Repetitive Loss 16
HMA Flood Grants Non-Disaster Flood Grants Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) 75/25 & 90/10 Goal of reducing claims under National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Repetitive Flood Claims (RFC) 100/0 Reduce flood damages to properties with past flood insurance claims.
