ALL STUDENTS - 100% Participation! WALK-A-THON 2017 FRIDAY 4/28 2:30-4 INFORMATION PACKET WHAT IS THE WALK-A-THON? This all-school event is our second largest FUNdraiser & highly anticipated each year! Your student is empowered to raise money for Clyde Hill & on event day, walk laps on the upper field while parents & teachers cheer him/her on! WHY PARTICIPATE IN THIS FUNDRAISER? The Walk-A-Thon is a super fun event & an opportunity to teach our kids how each of us can make a difference. Every student is asked to raise $100 by securing several donations from friends, family &/or other contacts (donations are not tied to laps walked they are flat donations upfront in support of the student/school). This is the final fundraiser of the school year & we are looking to raise $50,000 to help support PTA programs & resources such as grade-level aides, field trips, school events & more. 2017 Walk-A-Thon Fact Sheet Who should participate in the Walk-A-Thon? Everyone! Students: reach your $100 goal & walk laps on event day! Parents: support your child in securing donations & sign up as a volunteer! Teachers: join in the dress up days & walk at the event with your students! Families: all family members are welcome to come & cheer students on! What should I expect at the Walk-A-Thon? Every student will be given a free t-shirt to wear! Each class will go to the upper field to walk laps. The course will be roped off & your child will earn prizes along the way! There will also be some fun activity tables & a bake sale! How much should my student raise? Each student is asked to raise $100. To help, we have created an online donations page just for you! (See How to Get Donations). It is up to your family to decide how much money to raise - no donation is too small & helps us reach our goal. How does my student win prizes? ALL students get prizes on event day regardless of any money raised. There will also be 2 raffles with several prizes each for students who raise $100 & $5 or more. When are donations & permission slips due? Permission slips are due by Friday 4/21. All students, whether participating or not, are required to turn in a permission slip. Donations are due Friday, 4/28. Should I bring money to the event? YES! Please give your student $5 cash to purchase treats at our bake sale & play games on-site. All proceeds go to support the school. What are the dress up days during Walk-A-Thon week? Students can earn their teacher a gift card by being the best dressed class! The winning class will be announced each morning! Monday 4/24 Neon wear neon everything! Tuesday 4/25 Tourist dress like you re on vacation! Hats, cargos, floral shirts, etc. Wednesday 4/26 School Spirit wear Clyde Hill/favorite college gear & colors! Thursday 4/27 Sports Team wear gear from your favorite sports team! Friday 4/28 Crazy Hair get creative & wear your Walk-A-Thon t-shirt! What is the Walk-A-Thon parent party on 5/6? All parents are invited to an adults-only party on 5/6 at Woodhouse Wine Estates in Woodinville from 6-10pm! Look for separate communications with info & how to RSVP. Tickets will be $10 per person & raffle tickets for $10 each will also be sold for some great prizes (don t need to be present to win)! How do I donate an item? Contact Kim Millen (kim@marketinginmotioninc.com) if you are interested in donating an item(s) towards student prizes or for the parent party.

How to Get Donations & Reach Your Goal 1. Get your personal web page & link at https://clyde-hill-walkathon-2017.donortools.com. Scroll down to find your name & click on the link to go to your page/url. 2. Email a request for donations to all of your contacts! You can personalize the script below to send with your link or create your own. 3. Visit/Call friends, relatives, neighbors, & other contacts in person & use the paper donation form to help you keep track. Total payments need to be collected & turned in by 4/28. Suggested contacts to reach your $100+ goal! Aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins Local businesses or your parent s co-workers Neighbors & close family friends Members at your church or temple Family doctor, dentist, vet or realtor Ask your family for other contacts Payment Methods (Due by 4/28): 1. Credit Card via PayPal on students' personalized websites 2. Checks collected by student & turned into the office by 4/28 (Make checks payable to Clyde Hill PTA & write student name in memo line to ensure it counts towards raffle entry). 3. Cash collected by students & turned into the office by 4/28 (put in envelope with student name) Sample Script for Students to Call or Email Hello [name]! On Friday, April 28 th, I will be walking in my school s Walk-A-Thon to help fund important educational programs not covered by my state or school district. Donations go directly to the Clyde Hill PTA and help pay for classroom aids and curriculum enhancements such as academic challenges, field trips, on-site school experiences and more.* To help make a difference, I have a personal goal to raise $100 in support of our $50,000 school-wide goal. And, it s crazy hair day so get creative! Bring $5 cash to buy treats at our bake sale & play games! Buy raffle tickets at the event for $10 each great prizes including W Hotel overnight, Mariners tickets, Herb Farm, theater tickets, cooking class & more! (Winners announced at parent party on 5/6 - you don t need to be present to win.) Return your lanyard before you leave & throw away or take home your lap card along with any belongings you brought to school.

2017 Walk-A-Thon Permission Form DUE BY 4/21 This form must be completed and returned for every student at Clyde Hill. In order for your child to participate in the Walk-A-Thon, the PTA requires written approval. Parents are responsible for supervising their own children. There will be NO teacher supervision. If you are unable to participate, it is your responsibility to arrange supervision by another adult. Please complete this form & return to your child s teacher or the main office by Friday, April 21 st. We need this form completed & returned for every student, even if you choose not to walk. Donations are NOT required for children to participate. Student Name Teacher Grade My child WILL be participating in the Walk-A-Thon on Friday, April 28 th at Clyde Hill Elementary. He/She is in good physical condition to walk. Parent name who will be supervising my child during the Walk-A-Thon and taking him/her home afterward AND Click this box if: My child participates in Clyde Hill afterschool childcare and should stay with their class instead of going to after school care on the day of the Walk-A-Thon. I have named above the parent who will be providing adult supervision. My child WILL NOT be participating in the Walk-A-Thon on Friday, April 28 th. Even if your child cannot participate, please consider making a donation on behalf of the Walk- A-Thon and/or have your child secure their own pledges so they are eligible to be entered into the raffle for some great prizes!
