Keynote Speakers Brian Yeaman Dr. Brian Yeaman is a primary care physician with an active clinical practice of over 10 years in Norman, Oklahoma. He has over 10 years of informatics experience, helping organizations transform their capture, integration, and delivery of clinical data, information, and knowledge. Dr. Yeaman is a nationally renowned expert in Health Information Exchange and Health Information Technology, and last year was awarded the HIMSS 2015 National Physician IT Leader of the Year. He has guided some of the largest healthcare organizations to understand their core competencies and assisted in bringing new solutions to the healthcare market. Dr. Yeaman served as CMIO for Norman Regional Health System for 10 years, where he guided both inpatient and outpatient EMR Implementations and MU attestation for phase 1 and 2. He has participated in the development and leadership of HIE for over 8 years, including his present service as Chief Administrative Officer for Coordinated Care Oklahoma. This Oklahoma HIE serves more than 4 million patients, receives data from facilities across 6 states, and has become a model for sustainable HIE conducted under private funding and governance. Dr. Yeaman was appointed to serve on the Oklahoma HIE Trust by Governor Brad Henry, as well as participating in many state health planning and work efforts with the Oklahoma State Department of Health, Mental Health, and Health Care Authority. Dr. Yeaman is empowering patients, healthcare providers, and health systems toward smarter care and better outcomes where technology is working to move the needle on healthcare in the right direction. Speaker Bios Michael McGowan, MBA, HCA Mr. McGowan was an OASIS Coordinator for the state of California/CMS IX. He remotely monitored and interacted with 700 plus home health agencies and 450 state surveyors in the states 24 regional offices. Utilizing an extensive informatics and nursing background, he supported the CMS data driven survey mandates in the home health community, sending surveyors to agencies with lists of names and probable sanctions. Utilizing this skill set he has developed Operacare to proactively alert providers to activities that lead to adverse consequences. Jan McInnis For professional speaker and comedienne Jan McInnis, life is full of finding the funny. She and the audiences who continually rate her programs hilarious wouldn t have it any other way. Inspired by fifteen years as a marketing director in the 9 to 5 world, Jan has cornered the association and corporate convention market. And over the past 20+ years on the full-time speaking circuit, she has spoken at hundreds of conferences, employee retreats and banquets held by such groups as Anthem Blue-Cross, the American Heart Association, the Federal Reserve Banks, and the Mayo Clinic. Jan was featured in the Wall Street Journal as one of the top convention comedians whose material is clean and in the Washington Post for her clean comedy writing. Learning doesn t have to be boring! In this keynote she shows people how to use humor to handle change. Melinda Gaboury, COS-C, CEO Gaboury is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Healthcare Provider Solutions, Inc. Melinda Gaboury and Mark Cannon founded the company in April 2001 to provide financial, reimbursement, billing and clinical consulting to the home care and hospice industries. Aaron Little, CPA Aaron has more than 15 years of experience with BKD and oversees the health care billing services, a special team that manages more than $60 million in client revenues through billing outsourcing and recovery services for home care, hospice and senior living organizations. A CPA and leading national home care and hospice consultant, he routinely performs revenue and accounts receivable recovery services, billing operations efficiency and compliance assessments, client training and other billing services. Aaron also performs general financial and operational consulting services for home care and hospice organizations, including operations reviews, productivity assessments, benchmarking, budgeting and Medicare cost report preparation. Duane Blackwell, MBA Duane Blackwell has led and consulted with home health agencies and other healthcare providers for the past twenty years. His deep dive into Medicare data led to his cofounding National Home Health Analytics, a Medicare Claims Research and Consulting Organization focused on delivering high quality, totally transparent operational and financial benchmarking resources. Duane has assisted many home care agencies to prepare for success in the rapidly evolving post-acute landscape through SOSO Solutions, LLC, his healthcare consulting practice. Warren Hebert, DNP, RN, CAE Dr. Warren Hebert is a family caregiver. CEO of the HomeCare Association of Louisiana, Hebert is also an Assistant Professor and lead faculty for health policy and gerontology/long term care at Loyola School of Nursing in New Orleans. Warren s doctoral capstone was on family caregiving, and he is Hebert is currently researching home health nurse competencies in our work with family caregivers. Dr. Hebert has hosted the radio program, Family Caregiving, for seven years. Warren led a group of healthcare workers to Dharamasala, India for two weeks in the fall of 2014 to observe aging, family caregiving, and end of life care among Tibetan Buddhist elderly. Hebert is currently researching home health nurse competencies in our work with family caregivers. Dr. Hebert was co-founder of the COS-C exam, founding Chair of the Council of State HomeCare Associations, is Secretary of the CHAP Board of Directors, and is an alumni of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation s Executive Nurse Fellows Program. 4
Paul Mellor Paul Mellor, author of MEMORY! How to Remember Anything, was a finalist in the USA Memory Championship, where he recalled the names of over 90 people in less than 15 minutes, remembered in exact order over 100 single-digit numbers after a five minute study, and recalled the exact order of a shuffled deck of playing cards after less than a three-and-a-half minute review. His fun and energetic programs have been delivered to audiences nationwide. A Communications graduate of Western Carolina University, Mr. Mellor is also the author of You re Almost There, chronicling his journey as having run a marathon (26.2 miles) in all 50 states. His show enjoys a popular format of current political issues, a wide range of political and professional guests and has recently been considered by many as the new voice of healthcare, taking on issues such as Medicaid funding, veterans healthcare and legislative leadership issues addressing a variety of health topics. Born and raised in Lindsay, Oklahoma, Scott has been involved in Oklahoma politics and government since the 1980 s and has enjoyed working in radio and television for many years. His company Scott Mitchell and associates has also recently expanded into the social media market and can be found on many sites. Jan Spears Jan Spears in the CEO for MJS &Associates located in Nacogdoches Texas. Spears has more than 30 years administrative and reimbursement experience in home health. She was the owner/administrator for a multi-million-dollar home health agency in Texas for 15 years and has since served as a consultant to home health and hospice agencies for the past 17 years. She works directly with attorneys to represent health care providers, including home health agencies, in administrative, civil and fraud cases across the country. At MJS, Spears oversees the company s lines of operation including billing and collection services, compliance audits, provider continuing education, legal support activities and consulting services for a variety of provider types. Most recently Spears served as the health care expert for the defense team for the largest physician fraud case in US history.
