SESSION CREDITS & EVALUATIONS ON-LINE ONLY: To receive contact hours for a session, each attendee must: 1) attend the entire session, 2) insure that you scan your name badge correctly, and 3) complete the evaluation on-line available 48 hours after the conclusion of the conference. Once a session evaluation has been successfully completed, you will be able to print your certificate for that session available 24 hours after completing the evaluation. PRESENTATION HANDOUTS: In keeping with MNA s green policy, all available handouts will be posted to the MNA website. Prior to attending the sessions, registrants are encouraged to print the materials or store them on an electronic device. The handouts can be found on the MNA website (www.msnurses.org) under the LIBRARY menu in the 2015 Annual Convention folder. WI-FI ZONE: Registered attendees will have access to standard free Wi-Fi network within the MNA Convention designated areas of the Convention Center. NAME BADGES: Registered attendees MUST wear their official convention name badges at all times to access convention events. Convention name badges will be scanned when attendees enter convention events where continuing education hours are available. GUESTS OF REGISTERED ATTENDEES: Complimentary guest badges will be provided for persons age 21 and older attending the Colorful Cocktails & Canvas event. The guest badge allows entrance to the Colorful Cocktails & Canvas event only. FIREARMS/WEAPONS: Firearms are prohibited on the premises of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center and the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino. FORCE MAJEURE: In the event MNA should find it necessary to cancel or postpone the 2015 MNA Annual Convention for any reason, including but not limited to, acts of nature or terrorism, low registration or other circumstances beyond MNA s control, MNA s liability shall be limited to the refund of registration fees paid to MNA. CONFERENCE ATTIRE: Attire at the MNA Convention is business casual. The Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center strives to keep meeting rooms at a comfortable temperature, but layered clothing is strongly suggested and comfortable shoes are highly recommended. CHILDREN: Children (including infants) under the age of 16 are not allowed in convention sessions or the Exhibit Hall due to safety concerns, audio recording, and maintaining an appropriate learning environment. PHOTOGRAPHS/VIDEO: MNA will take photographs and video during the Convention and reproduce them in educational, news, or promotional material whether in print, electronic, or other media including the MNA Web site. By participating in the MNA Convention, you grant MNA the right to use your name, photograph, and biography for such purposes. How to Register Online Registration: To register on-line, please visit our website at www.msnurses.org. Information for the 2015 MNA Annual Convention is housed in two locations: (1) under News From MNA, and (2) under the EVENTS menu. Online registration requires a credit card payment. MNA accepts VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Registration will be available starting at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday - Friday. There will be a $50.00 fee assessed to all on-site registrations. Registration Policies Late Registration: Registrations postmarked or received between Monday, October 5 and Friday, October 9 will be assessed an additional $35.00 as a late registration fee. On-line, mailed or faxed registrations will not be accepted by the MNA office after Friday, Oct. 9. After October 9, additional registrations are encouraged, but must occur on-site. Cancellation/Refunds: Refunds shall be granted, according to the following: a. Refund requests must be made in writing. b. A full refund will be granted before September 25. c. After September 25 and before October 9, refunds will be granted less a $25 processing fee. d. No refunds will be granted after October 9, but a pre-paid registrant may send a substitute. Returned Checks/Declined Credit Cards: An administrative fee of $35 will be charged for all checks returned to MNA for insufficient funds and re-billing of credit cards. Research Posters: Thursday, October 22 A traditional poster session designed to provide you an opportunity to explore innovative strategies and research that are enhancing clinical, patient, and educational outcomes through evidence based nursing practice. Maryann Wee is a risk management expert and was the first in-state risk management consultant for a major insurer of hospitals in Mississippi. In 1989, she joined Medical Assurance Company of Mississippi to develop the risk management program for the insured physicians and currently serves as the Director of Risk Management Services. In that capacity she develops and coordinates risk programs as well as presents educational programs to physicians and their staff. She has provided over 600 programs on risk management topics including national presentations. Maryann Wee has eight publications in the areas of computerized data banking, stroke and risk management. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. She specialized in the areas of neurological and neurosurgical intensive care nursing at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center and the University of Maryland Medical Center. She also served as the coordinator for ICU education at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Her experience includes serving as a site project coordinator for the Stroke Data Bank Project which was under the auspices of NIH. Rebekah Gregory is a simple small town woman and mother whose life was forever changed due to the events of the Boston marathon bombings on April 15, 2013. This horrible act of terrorism left her as one of the names of the seventeen amputees and therefore permanently handicapped at the young age of only twenty six years old. Instead of being bitter, Rebekah has used her platform in a huge way by encouraging others worldwide. Speaking out about her story and own daily obstacles, she believes that life's struggles are not only meant to teach us lessons, but make us better versions of ourselves than before. Rebekah's delivery with her quick wit and contagious optimism is sure to have everyone feeling inspired and ready to make their own life changes. Outlining her popular phrase, "with every new day comes new hope" she never fails to leave her audience ready to "change the world".
