The CLP Volunteers Team was set up in 1994 by a group of caring frontline employees who used their expertise to provide free rewiring services for underprivileged elderly people, the first footprint in volunteering. Today, it has grown into a team of 1,400 employees, family members and friends, and is one of the largest corporate volunteer teams in Hong Kong. Over the past two decades, the services provided by CLP volunteers have become more diverse with the supports and collaboration of various non-governmental organisations. In addition to the signature rewiring service, the Team hosts power safety and energy saving workshops and organises caring visits, beach clean-ups, English classes, wheelchair repairs, and a hot meals distribution service, benefitting elderly people, underprivileged families, newly-arrived families, and low-income households.
