12 September 2017 中華電力有限公司 CLP Power Hong Kong Limited CLP Volunteers are Honoured for Giving Dedicate Service to the Community CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today held a CLP Volunteers Appreciation Ceremony to honour employees for their dedication in helping the community. In 2016, the CLP Volunteers Team organised and took part in 70 programmes, and gave more than 11,300 hours of service to the community with one individual contributing 183 hours to volunteer work. Director of Social Welfare Ms Carol Yip joined CLP Power Managing Director Mr T K Chiang, Chief Corporate Development Officer Ms Quince Chong, and other CLP Power executives and presented appreciation certificates to more than 100 outstanding volunteers. CLP Power also presented certificates of appreciation to more than 30 nongovernmental organisations for working closely with CLP and giving invaluable support to the company s volunteer services and community projects. The CLP Volunteers Team was set up in 1994 by a group of caring frontline employees who used their expertise to provide free rewiring services for underprivileged elderly people, the first footprint in volunteering. Today, it has grown into a team of 1,400 employees, family members and friends, and is one of the largest corporate volunteer teams in Hong Kong. Over the past two decades, the services provided by CLP volunteers have become more diverse with the supports and collaboration of various non-governmental organisations. In addition to the signature rewiring service, the Team hosts power safety and energy saving workshops and organises caring visits, beach clean-ups, English classes, wheelchair repairs, and a hot meals distribution service, benefitting elderly people, underprivileged families, newly-arrived families, and low-income households. About CLP Power Hong Kong Limited CLP Power Hong Kong Limited ("CLP Power") is the Hong Kong utility subsidiary wholly owned by CLP Holdings Limited, a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and one of the largest investor-owned power businesses in Asia.
