Cooperative Extension Service Hardin County 201 Peterson Drive Elizabethtown, KY 42701-9370 (270) 765-4121 Fax: (270) 769-0426 October 2017 Happy Fall Homemakers! Although I m sitting inside while the temperature outside reads almost 90 degrees, it technically is fall. And this fall, we have A LOT going on. I hope to see you each several times this month! First, we have the county cultural arts contest. This will be on October 4th beginning at 9:00 a.m. See more details in a few pages. I know we have some amazingly talented women in this county and I cannot wait to see what all you put on display. Please don t be too shy to showcase your works. There s a category for just about everything! Those winners will then be taken on to the area cultural arts contest on October 5th. I will take them up that day. On October 6th, anyone attending the area meeting in Springfield will be able to see the items, and the ribbons many of them are sure to get, on display. I hope several of you have made plans to attend. I think it will be a great meeting. The following week is Kentucky Extension Homemaker Week. We will be having an Open House on October 10th for all current and potential members. Please stop by anytime between 1:00 and 3:00 that afternoon, pick up your free appreciation gift, and please bring a friend! It won t be anything fancy, but we will be having cake and punch and just socializing. I hope to see many of you there. That Thursday, October 12th, at 5:00, my two assistants at work will be hosting a Make and Taste class. You will taste several recipes and get to play the role of food critic, and then you ll make a DIY craft to take home and enjoy. Class is free to attend! See the flyer in a few pages and RSVP by calling the office! A Note from the President: After that we have the Covered Bridge Tour on October 24 25 to Maysville. We have a good group going, but we still have seats on the bus! We ve opened the trip up to the public, so invite any of your travel loving friends! After that, we ll see you at the Council Meeting on November 6th! Don t forget that all are invited to attend those meetings! Don t forget also to start spreading the word about the Bazaar on November 11th! And note the new times, we ll be opening an hour earlier this year in order to better accommodate our customers! If you have signed up to help with the Ovarian Cancer Tea Fundraiser in February 2018, please plan to stay after the Council Meeting on November 6 for a short planning meeting. Hope to see you there.
