Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! 30 Classes Resume A Message From Our Nurse November is National Diabetes Month and I will be presenting some very basic knowledge on diabetes to the students. Every Wednesday, the students are encouraged to wear blue, and the cafeteria will be serving blueberry yogurt parfaits. Signs of diabetes develop quickly, usually over a period of weeks. Signs to watch for include; increased thirst, extreme hunger, fatigue, irritability, unusual behavior, frequent urination, and unexplained weight loss which is usually the first sign to be noticed. If you begin to see any of these signs in your child, please notify their physician. I will also be performing routine head checks for lice on all K-4 students. This began in October and will continue through November. If I have any concerns I will contact you via a phone call. Fall is cough and cold season, therefore, if your child is running a fever or has excessive coughing, please keep them home from school until they are feeling better. Make sure they are getting enough sleep, which for elementary aged children is about 10 hours nightly, and drinking plenty of fluids. If you have any questions, I may be reached daily at 330-549-4079. Kim Peterson R.N. 3

Parent/Teacher Conferences Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 2:50-8:50 p.m. We encourage parents to find time to meet with your child s teachers. Library News - Reading Counts We get downloads of quizzes from Scholastic on a regular basis; therefore, keeping a current database on the Media Center website is very difficult. The following websites may be helpful. http://src.scholastic.com/ Parents or students may visit this site to look up a book title to see if there is a Reading Counts quiz. http://www.lexile.com/ This site will allow you to search for books in a Lexile range. Finding books on these sites does not guarantee that the Media Center has a copy of the book, but this will be helpful for books that students may be interested in from the Public Library. You can locate the Media Center page from the South Range School District website: http://www.southrange.k12.oh.us Look under Teacher Websites in either the Elementary or Middle Schools to find the Library. Use the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) link if you are searching for a book in our Media Center. Select CAT Jr for Elementary or CAT for MS/HS. Use the Reading Programs search to find a book in your child s Lexile. By selecting Lexile Score Search, the student is prompted to put in their Lexile range, which is 100 below - 100 above their number. This will generate a list of books that our Media Center has in their Lexile. Please email me at any time with questions: rpluchinsky@southrange.org Happy Reading, Mrs. Pluchinsky 11

Thanks again for all you do for the children of South Range Schools! 12

HOW CAN YOU SIMPLY DO GOOD FOR SOUTH RANGE SCHOOLS? GOODSEARCH Goodsearch started as an idea and now it has turned into a movement. More than 15 million people used Goodsearch last year to support more than 100,000 non-profits and schools. Since 2006, Goodsearch users have raised more than $9 million, participated in over 1.1 billion charitable actions, and have truly made a difference. So, how can YOU be a part of this??? It s EASY!! Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Step 4: Step 5: Visit the Goodsearch Website (www.goodsearch.com) Click on the SIGN UP link in the upper right corner Enter your information and select SOUTH RANGE MIDDLE SCHOOL as the Cause (the money will go to ALL three schools) Start searching at www.goodsearch.com (a patent-protected Yahoo! Powered search engine) Earn a Penny for South Range with every search (May not seem like a lot, but if each family at South Range did just ONE search it would bring @15.00 to South Range Schools and that s just with ONE search!) Take a look at what some of the other schools have earned! Thanks for Supporting the Students at South Range!!! 13
