GENERAL INFORMATION This conference will be held at John A. Logan College, 700 Logan College Road, Carterville, IL. For general information regarding the course, please call 217-545-7711. REGISTRATION To register, please complete the attached form and return it with the appropriate fee. Registration the day of the conference will begin at 7:30 a.m. Registration fee includes breakfast, lunch and conference materials. CANCELLATION POLICY Registration fees are refundable, less a $25 processing fee, if requested prior to April 19. After April 19, only substitutions are allowed. (Advance notice of substitute attendee is appreciated.) WHO SHOULD ATTEND This program has been designed for primary care physicians. ACCREDITATION Southern Illinois University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CREDIT The SIU School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. In addition, application for CME credit has been fi led with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending. SIU School of Medicine is preapproved as a continuing nursing education provider pursuant to Section 1300.130, subsection c), 1), B) and P) of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Nurse Practice Act. OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to: Describe the roll of statins in the management of cardiovascular risk. Discuss the use of non-statin drugs and their indications. Describe the basis of addiction as a neurobiological disease process. Describe the treatment for opiate addiction with buprenorphine as the basic standard of care in medicine. List the risk factors for breast cancer. Describe the appropriate initial work-up of a palpable breast mass or abnormal breast exam fi nding. Identify the major types of psychiatric emergencies. Formulate differential diagnoses and management strategies for psychiatric emergencies. Intensify multidrug noninsulin regimens to optimize glycemic control and improve other clinical parameters in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Recognize the overuse injuries in child and adolescent athletes. Prescribe evidence-based cost effective diagnoses, treatments and prevention strategies. Develop a system for connecting with public health and other community partners to improve population health. Identify resources to address medical issues and social determinants of health and effectively refer and coordinate with those resources. Perform basic Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy techniques. Integrate Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine into a Primary Care offi ce visit for common, routine medical conditions.
