Students have the opportunity to prepare and present educational sessions to the public, while under the supervision of a licensed instructor. Certified Dental Assistants often provide nutritional and oral health counseling within a dental office or in a public health setting. Students also learn about caring for geriatric patients and people with disabilities. Program Information: This course is required for successful completion of the Certified Dental Assisting program. Individual instructors may accommodate for illness or personal crisis. Additional accommodation will not be made unless a written request is sent to and approved by the appropriate Department Head prior to the scheduled exam. Any student who misses a scheduled exam without approval will be given a grade of 0 for the exam. Note: The program s rewrite policy is described in detail in the CDA Program Student Handbook. COURSE GRADE: Course grades are assigned as follows: Grade A+ A A- B+ B B- F Mark (Percent) 95 94-90 89-85 84-80 79-75 74-70 < 70 Students must achieve a minimum of 70% on all final examinations, and an overall grade of 70% to pass this course.
