Cntext/ Backgrund The Children s Hspital Grup (CHG) is part f the acute health sectr refrm prgramme and cnsists f Our Lady s Children s Hspital, Crumlin, Temple Street Children s University Hspital, and the Natinal Children's Hspital at Tallaght Hspital. The three children s hspitals and the CHG will be mving frm fur separate, independently gverned entities int ne new single rganisatin in 2018 t gvern and perate paediatric services in Dublin. This new rganisatin will perate as a single service acrss the existing lcatins befre transitining t the new facilities at the tw paediatric utpatient and urgent care centres at Cnnlly and Tallaght Hspitals and the new children s hspital n the campus shared with St James s Hspital. The Children s Hspital Prgramme is a majr prgramme f wrk led by the CHG, fcused n transfrmative service change t integrate the three existing hspitals, while maintaining existing and new services, ensuring patient safety and quality until transitin is cmplete. It will: Establish an integrated paediatric healthcare netwrk Transitin the three existing independently gverned children s hspitals int a new entity Act as client fr the gvernment funded capital prject t build the new hspital and the tw paediatric utpatient and urgent care centres at Cnnlly and Tallaght Hspitals, and a separately funded research and educatin centre Act as client t a majr ICT prgramme 1

Scpe f the Rle The CMO is a medical/ clinical prfessinal leadership rle and has n service management remit. It is an rganisatin-wide rle with prfessinal accuntability t the CHG bard - via the Grup Chief Executive - fr medical prfessinal and clinical QSRM (quality, safety and risk management) fr all services prvided fr within the Children s Hspital Grup. The CMO will als perate in a clinical practice capacity. Purpse the Rle f The CMO rle is the executive rle designed t prvide assurance n medical prfessinal and clinical quality, safety and risk management. The CMO is the lead rle in clinical leadership and cmpliance, develping and mandating implementatin f medical prfessinal plicies, standards, practices and prcedures. The CMO represents the CHG externally, develping relatinships natinally and internatinally with ther hspitals and health systems, and acts as a spkespersn fr the hspital. 3

Quality, patient safety and gvernance Ensure that all statutry, ther legal and extern mandated clinical plicies and prcedures are effected in and acrss the rganisatin and prvide full assurance theren. Assure the CHG Bard, thrugh its Quality and Safety Directr, in all aspects f quality, patient safety, gvernance and clinical risk ensuring any exceptins are reprted and that recmmended actins are fully implemented and apprpriately reviewed t ensure cmpliance. Remuneratin Remuneratin is in accrdance with the salary scales apprved by the Department f Health Annual Leave Annual Leave entitlement is 30 days (222 hurs) per annum. Wrking Week The hurs allcated t this pst are 37 hurs per week with 7.4 hurs as a standard wrking day. The allcatin f these hurs will be at the discretin f the Department Head and in accrdance with the needs f the service.
