SECONDARY SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM (YEAR 2017/2018)
KINGSLEY INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL (KIS) SECONDARY SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME The High School Scholarship Programme offers a partial scholarship to successful applicants who have passed the UPSR public examination and is moving into Year 7. Applicants are also required to pass KIS s placement test and interview. The award of the scholarship is based on the strength of the student s academic performance and school community involvement. The scholarship is for students who will: Enter Year 7 in the year2017/2018 a scholarship offering FULL waiver on tuition fees for the first term of Year 7 in 2017/2018, and a 50% waiver on tuition fees for term 2 and 3. For all other levels 8, 9, 10 and 11, all terms tuition fee will be waived by 50% only. The scholarships are available to students who have completed Cambridge Year 6 Checkpoint or Standard 6 and passed UPSR in the year 2017 and is not available to students currently holding external scholarships/bursaries. Please fill up the application form completely. It must be returned to the Kingsley Registrar Office or emailed to rymond@kingsley.edu.my by 28 th April 2017. Academic Standards Academic Performance UPSR or Cambridge Year 6 Checkpoint (a) Academic rigour means that the successful applicant would have excellent academic performance across the breadth of subjects rather than just being exemplary in one or two subjects. The emphasis is both on excellence of results and consistency of performance. (b) Results recorded in the Standard 6 UPSR with a minimum of 5As in UPSR trial examinations or Cambridge Year 6 Checkpoint with 6.0 in English, Mathematics and Science. (c) Students will sit for the Trial School Certificate examinations at the end of term 3 and the results of these examinations in core subjects will be assessed and compared to those already assessed prior to admission. School Community Involvement Scholarship candidates will be expected to support their excellent academic credentials with a clear and consistent commitment to a variety of activities within the school. The candidate must show a strong commitment to school activities and an excellent standard within the activity. These can include: School productions Cross-country, Athletics and Swimming Carnivals School Sports teams Music, Drama, Visual Arts and Design and Technology events of various types School leadership positions such as Prefects, House Captains and Class Monitors Charity activities such as volunteering at an old folks homes etc. Other relevant activities List these activities in the appropriate space. You may highlight specific achievements in your Personal Essay Statement. Personal Essay Statement In Section E, please write a brief essay (approximately 300 words) to highlight your strengths as a candidate and comment on your involvement in school community activities as outlined above. This must be submitted along with your completed application.
Terms and Conditions 1) (hereinafter referred to as The School ) is awarding a FULL scholarship for the first term of Year 7 and 50% scholarship for each subsequent term to a successful applicant (hereinafter referred to as The Student ). 2) The Student has accepted the award for the purpose of pursuing the course subject to the terms, conditions and stipulations hereinafter set out. 3) The Student can apply for the scholarship based on school trial results starting March 2017 and will be shortlisted after sitting for The School s placement test and interview. 4) For the actual selection, The School will only award the scholarship to The Student based on actual individual school UPSR trial examination results, scoring a minimum FIVE As including English, Mathematics and Science and passing The School s placement test and interview. 5) The Student hereby agrees and undertakes as follows:- 3.1 To attend full time, regularly, diligently and without fail (save for illness or other temporary incapacity) all classes, lectures, tutorials and lessons required by The School. 3.2 To maintain class test and examination result each semester, scoring A in FIVE subjects including English, Mathematics and Science. Failing to do so, The Student will be given a letter of caution, and may result in The School revoking the scholarship after the issuance of second letter of caution. 3.3 To practice exemplary behavior and to comply with all rules and regulations and requirements applicable / stipulated by The School. 3.4 At the end of every term of study or as soon as any report is made available to furnish such report or provide The School with or without the request by (including any request made from time to time of him/her) a progress report of The Student s progress and achievement in The School. The School may provide a format for compliance and which may from time to time be varied or expanded. 3.5 Not to be involved, engaged in or participate in any activity or society which in the opinion of The School would embarrass The School and the country or to do anything illegal or unlawful under the Malaysian law. 3.6 Not to hold The School obligated to continue to extend the award beyond the academic period. 3.7 The Student is required to assist in marketing activities by the Customer Marketing and Service Department without disrupting the class activities and attendance, which may fall on weekends. Prior notifications will be given. 3.8 Not abandon, discontinue or change The School. If under any circumstances that The Student decided to quit The School, he/she must pay all the fees waived from all previous semesters to The School. 6) All decisions made by The School on matters pertaining to the scholarships will be final. 7) The School reserves the right to revoke any scholarship due to failure in examinations, withdrawal from program before completion and/or non-compliance with the Rules and Regulations of The School.
