3 CRS&PS Newsletter 2nd Quarter 2015 YARD AND MARINE SALE SATURDAY - APRIL 11TH The squadron plans to hold a Yard and Marine sale at our building on April 11 TH. We've had a number of people volunteer to help but with this kind of sale we need everyone's help to make it a success. We especially need our members to start putting aside household items and Marine items that you're willing to donate to the squadron sale. We plan to have a group of our Crystal River members come around and pick up large items at your home on April 9. The building will be open on April 10 for you to bring in manageable size items that we can put on display in the building. Please try to identify a reasonable cost on these items to help with pricing. On Saturday, April 11th, we will have the sale from eight o'clock to three o'clock. We will need lots of help on Saturday to help manage and sell items. If you are willing to talk to your neighbors, friends and relatives, see if they are willing to donate any items for our Yard and Marine sale, it would be appreciated. 4 CRS&PS Newsletter 2nd Quarter 2015 and coming year. P/D/C TOM ROSSINI,, SN, IN Commander s Report As we head into the spring of the year, the Crystal River Power Squadron is well on its way to achieving many of our goals. In April we will be finishing our weather class and conducting another ABC class for basic boating. We are planning a huge fundraiser in the form of a Yard and Marine Sale at our squadron building. We will conduct a Cruise and Rendezvous on the Suwannee River on the 28th of April. We also have scheduled a chili cook-off as a new event for our squadron this year on the 25th of April. The Squadron will participate in the District 22 meeting that is being held in Tampa, Florida this year. We currently have eight members who are planning to attend. The Crystal River Power Squadron continues to lead the way with vessel safety checks in District 22 and the United States Power Squadrons. With Betty Mula and Pete Ward heading up the membership committee, we have brought in at least one new member every month. We are well on our way to achieving our membership goals for 2015. Due to some medical and personal issues Dick Fitzgerald has resigned as our Squadron Treasurer. Therefore, we will need one of our members to step forward and take on this vital role for our Squadron. All of our officers are need of support and help in order to make our Squadron successful for this year. Remember, this is your squadron and we all need to work together. If you are willing to help, please contact one your Bridge members and volunteer to help make our squadron better. In May, we plan to have a Cruise and Rendezvous to the Dora Canal on the sixth. Thanks in large part to Jack Flynn, we will again sponsor a blessing of the fleet, where we include local boating groups, Coast Guard, Coast Guard AUX and fishing groups. At the end of the month we have an outing planned for Pecks Restaurant on OZELLO KEY. In June, we plan to have a picnic with the site yet to be determined and a Cruise and Rendezvous on the Withlacoochee River. We will also be looking at conducting an ABC class as a one-day seminar either in late June or early July. In late May, I plan to put on outreach program for safe boating week. The program will include CPR, AED, and a First Aid seminar along with fire safety, knot tying, and a flarehandling demonstration and practice. We had a tremendous response to this program the last few years and hope to have a similar attendance this year. I will also continue to run vessel safety checks throughout the summer
