Introduction With its location in London s East End, Cygnet Hospital Beckton is ideally placed to provide specialist female-only services with a focus on rehabilitation and community re-integration. The hospital has four different specialist wards which support and care for women aged between 18 and 65. The environment is warm and welcoming. The team work closely with service users to ensure Beckton provides the best therapeutic environment possible. Hooper Ward Hooper Ward is a female psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) that tailors care to improve service users wellbeing, reduce risk and supports people to fully engage in their recovery. The average length of stay on the ward is around three weeks. All service users are detained under the Mental Health Act. Care and treatment is patient centred and delivered by a specialist multi-disciplinary team. People admitted or transferred to Hooper from the NHS will have a short-term intensive assessment and treatment programme. Once stabilised, they will be transferred back to their home Trust s in-patient services to continue with their recovery journey. There may be occasions when transfer to another Cygnet unit may be agreed with the referring organisation for further specialist care.
