Welcome to SHUPL Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (SHUPL) was established in 1984, and SHUPL is situated in the well-known Sheshan Mountain scenic area, and it covers an area of 1078.6 mu(about 72 hectares). SHUPL features practicality and application. It educates personnel of various disciplines at multiple levels. Guided by a scientific development outlook, SHUPL is becoming a high-level liberal arts University with distinctive features and producing intellectuals with practical skills. The university now has 12 academic schools, and other teaching departments which include the Graduate School, Department of Physical Education, Network and Modern Education Technology Center, and Vocational Training Center. SHUPL has started graduate programs. The university now offers 3 master's degree programs including legal theories, constitution and administrative law studies and criminal law studies. The university also offers 25 undergraduate programs and 7 higher vocational degree programs. SHUPL enjoys advance and adequate teaching facilities w h i c h i n c l u d e t r a i n i n g classrooms for Mock UN, International Politics and Public Affairs, International Strategic Security Database, Computing C e n t e r, L a n g u a g e l a b s, Simulated Trial Courtrooms, Criminal Investigation labs, International trade labs and short hand training classroom. p1 There are more than 10600 full-time students in the university. SHUPL has an outstanding faculty, 40% of its faculty members are above associate professor level. Over 84% of its faculty members are Masters or even Doctors. Eight of its faculty members are qualified supervisors for Doctorate candidates, over 48 of its faculty members are qualified supervisors for Master candidates.
p2 Many of SHUPL's faculty members play a leading role in national a c a d e m i c o r g a n i z a t i o n s. Mr. Liu Yungeng, former Chairperson and Party Secretary of the Shanghai NPC standing Committee, is the h o n o r a r y P r e s i d e n t o f S H U P L. The university has also invited over 100 well-known specialists and scholars to serve as honorary professors and guest professors. Ever since 1999, the university has been awarded Shanghai Garden Unit every year. It has also been the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Shanghai Model Unit. In 2009, SHUPL was awarded Shanghai Outstanding Unit f o r C u l t u r a l a n d I d e o l o g i c a l Construction. SHUPL attaches great i m p o r t a n c e t o i n t e r n a t i o n a l exchanges. 2014 SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM Issue Date: Mar. 21st, 2014 Theme of the Program: The Culture of the Silk Road About the Program: This summer program is a cultural summer camp dubbed, the culture of the Silk Road is organized to attract foreign youth onto the path of China, and to enable them feel the Chinese culture and to enhance mutual understanding, trust and friendship between the Chinese and foreign students. The summer camp features culture seminars, experiencing Chinese culture and customs and culture of the Silk Road, sightseeing, a survey to celebrated foreign companies in Shanghai. International Students on tour in Shanghai Students will also attend an Art Festival for Shanghai College students, of which the themes are "Hand in hand, heart to heart"; "To establish a bridge, to form our friendship"and "For the peace of the world". The activities of the summer camp include seminars in the mornings and speaking in Chinese, experiencing Chinese talent or other cultural activities in the afternoons mostly. The students will comprehend Chinese culture through feeling and experiencing the splendid culture and sublime landscapes of the Silk Road. The students will get a certificate on the cultural summer camp program on the Silk Road after the camp.
