High School Diploma or general education degree (GED). 2. Training and/or experience in maintenance and/or construction. 3. Valid Missouri Driver s License. General Description: Skilled labor and semi-skilled work. Perform manual labor without supervision and operates equipment as assigned to the task. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. The cleaning, inspection, maintenance, and construction of storm sewers and waste water lines. 2. Inspects the distribution and collection system to insure the system and equipment continuously operates in accordance with established standards, as amended. 3. Observes meters, gauges, and dials and records readings for wastewater system. 4. Services and performs preventative maintenance (e.g. cleans and adjusts equipment, makes minor repairs, lubricates parts, changes packing, paints equipment, etc.) and reports major mechanical failures to appropriate personnel.
2 5. Draws samples and performs chemical, bacterial, and/or biological testing and analysis; prepares samples and chain of custody forms for outside laboratory testing. 6. Performs custodial and maintenance tasks around wastewater plant (e.g. mows grass, paints, wash windows, dusts, mops, etc,). 7. Responds to customer inquiries and directs to other city employees if unable to answer the inquiry. 8. Notes damages, leaks, and system problems and reports findings to Superintendent. 9. Removes and replaces defective problems in system. 10. Assist with collection system maintenance and emergency back-ups and repairs. 11. Snow removal and application of salt, cinders, and/or similar ice prevention materials. 12. Public Works maintenance tasks and operations including manual work with hand implements. 13. Responds to emergency conditions such as snow storms, ice storms, flooding, downed tree limbs, etc. 14. Minor repairs and preventative maintenance services on equipment. 15. Performs related work as required or other as assigned. GENERAL DUTIES 1. Performs a variety of skilled labor tasks (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, electrical, landscaping, painting, concrete, vehicle maintenance and minor repair, etc.) 2. Performs a variety of semi-skilled labor tasks (e.g. snow/ice removal, storm sewer line repairs/replacement, catch basin/drop inlet repairs, waste water line and waste water manhole repairs/replacement, mowing, weed removal.). 3. Operates equipment (e.g., motor vehicle, manual tools, power tools, jackhammer, concrete saw, chain saw, tamper, tractor, mower, weed sprayer, snow plow, salt spreader, etc.).
3 4. Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment. 5. Performs general maintenance and custodial duties at municipal facilities. 6. Follows all department safety practices and procedures. 7. Maintains required licenses and/or certifications. 8. Inventories department equipment, supplies, and materials. 9. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. 10. Assists other city employees, as needed. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs other duties as required. 2. Attends workshops and/or seminars related to duties performed. 3. Demonstrates and maintains exemplary public relations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: City policies and procedures; department goals and objectives; record keeping, operational knowledge of City waste water equipment; construction, maintenance, and repair; equipment, chemicals, and other materials used in custodial services; safety practices and procedures; English grammar and spelling; Skill in: operation of construction equipment; operation of manual tools; operation of power tools; driving a motor vehicle; accurate meter reading and record keeping. Ability to: carry out simple instructions; deal with problems involving few variables within familiar context; recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action; communicate effectively; recognize safety warnings;

EQUIPMENT OPERATED: (The following are examples only and are not intended to be all-inclusive) Snow plow, motor vehicle, Back hoe, dump truck, salter, concrete saw, jack hammer, tractor/mower, weed eater, tamper, and weed sprayer. PHYSICALLY DEMANDING AND HAZARDOUS WORKING CONDITIONS INHERENT IN THIS JOB DESCRIPTION: The employee must negotiate, use, or work with or in the vicinity of: 1. Portable wood and/or metal ladders. 2. Flammable and combustible liquids. 3. Confined spaces. 4. General requirements for use, care, and limitations of personal protective equipment (PPE). 5. Eye and face protection due to potential exposure to flying objects, impact, and other hazards. 6. Occupational head protection due to impact to the head from objects, electricity, and other hazards (required only when hazards are present or are likely to be present). 7. Hand protection. 8. Machines and/or equipment which could accidentally become energized (lockout/tagout). 9. Handling of material and supplies (includes mechanical handling equipment, the manner in which things are stored, and housekeeping). 10. Hand and Portable tools.
5 11. Guarding of tools. 12. Oxygen fuel gas welding and cutting. 13. Human blood, feces, urine, and/or other potentially infectious materials. 14. Hazardous chemicals. GENERAL DUTY: SAFE AND HEALTHFUL WORKPLACE: The employee: 1. Has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught person(s). 2. Has exposure to hot, cold, humid, wet, and/or windy weather conditions. 3. Has exposure to hazardous driving conditions. 4. Has exposure to shaking objects or surfaces. 5.
