ACTION ITEM #3 WSU Pullman, Gateway Improvement Project Phase 1, Design and Construction (Patterson/Yang) TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF REGENTS SUBJECT: WSU Pullman, Gateway Improvement Project Phase 1, Design and Construction PROPOSED: SUBMITTED BY: SUPORTING INFORMATION: That the Board of Regents approve the WSU Pullman Gateway Improvement Project Phase 1, with a total budget not to exceed $1,250,000, and authorize the project to proceed to design and construction, and further delegate authority to the President or his designee to enter into any and all contracts necessary to complete the project within the budgeted amount. Roger Patterson, Vice President for Finance and Administration The need to repair, replace, and upgrade campus entrances and Gateway locations are a high priority for the University. Five major entrances were identified during a pre-design planning effort. The consultant presented the pre-design to the Regents as an informational item in October 2012 (Attachment A). These locations include (1) Stadium Way and Main Street/Hwy 270, (2) Stadium Way and Colorado Street, (3) Grimes and Terre View, (4) Terre View and North Fairway and (5) Colorado Street and Thatuna Street. The first phase, Stadium Way and Main Street/Hwy 270, represents improvements that will enhance a major entrance to the campus, enrich the campus-community connection and address maintenance concerns. The proposed Phase 1 site and the future sites are depicted below. Board of Regents WSU Pullman, Gateway Improvement Project Phase 1, Design and Construction Resolution #140509-481 WHEREAS, the Board of Regents of Washington State University by virtue of RCW 28B.10.528 has authority to delegate by resolution to the President of the University, or designee, powers and duties vested in or imposed upon the Board by law and to enable the President, or designee to act on behalf of the Board of Regents in matters relating to the administration and governance of the University.
