C12 s Career FAQ: The Opportunity at Hand, What You Need to Know
The Cadre of the Called Do you find yourself growing in excitement, as you consider the C12 Chair opportunity? At C12, our Chair corps is the cadre of the called, individuals who have been called, by God, to do the work of equipping Christian CEOs and business owners to transform their businesses into their mission field. But how do C12 Chairs do it? Can a C12 Chair earn an executive-level income? What does it take to be a successful C12 Chair? We ve prepared the answers to these and other frequently asked questions to help you discern whether owning and operating a C12 practice is the right career for you; as you learn more about this exciting opportunity, know that we are always available to answer your questions at the C12 Home Office. David.Gullotti@C12Group.com 336-841-7100 What is the business model? The C12 Group operates as a fee-for-service business. C12 Chairs operate their territories by offering membership on an invitation-only basis to local Christian CEOs, Owners, and executives. Chairs make a modest initial investment in a C12 territory and are equipped to develop and facilitate C12 Groups. Revenue for a C12 practice is generated by member s monthly dues. Territories are focused in metro areas with an overall population in excess of half a million people within a 60-minute driving radius, providing a logistically convenient base of Christian business leaders from which to grow the practice. 2
Does C12 really work? Now in its third decade, the effectiveness of the C12 model is evident. The objective, truth-based counsel and applied knowledge gained from C12 membership is extremely effective in helping our members outperform their market peers in revenue growth and profitability while building a company culture that breeds loyalty. At the same time, C12 members reach many non-christians that haven t heard Christ s gospel or seen it in action. The typical C12 member sees four workplace salvations and funds more than $150,000 in ministry in Christ s name a real influence for community renewal and revival. C12 members rate their C12 experience very highly (9.3 out of 10 with a remarkable 80+ Net Promoter Score) and most remain an active part of C12 for many years; hundreds of executives have more than 10 years tenure with C12. Why is the C12 Group for-profit versus nonprofit? Founded in 1992, C12 operates as a ministry that charges a fee for a valuable, high-impact service. We do this to model what we promote with our clients: (1) excellent business as ministry and (2) disproving that one must separate faith from business and life. C12 enjoys active and devoted governance from a committed Board of Directors, all long-time C12 members that serve as the sole equity holders. Board decisions are made free from personal agendas and all decisions are made with unanimity. 3
What is the income potential? Due to the exclusivity of each C12 territory, C12 Chairs have a great opportunity to grow their income based on their desire and determination. Each territory is sized to provide at least three C12 peer advisory groups and two Key Players groups under the leadership of a single C12 Chair. Some territories have greater upside and can expand further based on the addition of Associate Chairs, who facilitate additional groups and help to grow the scale of the C12 practice. Chairs who lead two full C12 Groups and a Key Player group can generate a solid six-figure professional income. The potential exists in each market for additional C12 Groups, while enjoying a manageable 40-hour workweek and operating from home. What if there is already an active group in my area? If there is already an active C12 Group in your area, there may be the potential to expand an existing C12 territory by joining your local C12 Chair as an Associate Chair. The C12 Group is also working to expand throughout the US, with several attractive open territories should you be willing to move to a new area. How much will it cost to get a C12 practice started? Initial investment in a basic C12 territory is $30,000. This initial investment includes the purchase of the exclusive rights to serve the territory, upfront training (one week on-site) and supplies, as well as an initial marketing account to ensure your practice has sufficient funds to fuel a successful launch. C12 subsidizes your marketing to strengthen this initial investment. Additional office set-up costs for office equipment and software may be necessary, depending on your existing equipment. How long does it take to develop a solid, stable income? The length of time it takes to develop a solid, stable income is dependent on a Chair s readiness, determination, and followthrough with your initial business plan to develop the practice. It is very reasonable to expect to build the first full group within the first year and a second full group during the second year. The C12 Home Office works with each Chair, to hold each one accountable for working toward the potential for each territory, based on the goals and plans defined at the launch of your C12 practice. Can I do consulting, or keep my existing business, on the side? Unlike other peer advisory and roundtable organizations, The C12 Group requires that each Chair be fully committed, full-time, to growing and operating their C12 practice. C12 s Chair corps is the CEO roundtable industry s finest, bar none. While a limited number of optional projects, facilitation work, or value-added events may be conducted for your C12 members along the way, we prohibit actively soliciting such incremental work in violation of the non-solicitation covenant we have with our members. As stewards of our individual territories, C12 Chairs devote their time to growing the overall practice rather than trying to serve the consulting or project needs of individual members. 5
How does The C12 Group help me get off the ground? C12 Chairs, after a vetting period to ensure calling, fit, and sincere commitment to our mission and model, are equipped with best-in-class training. In the month prior to your C12 launch, the Home Office team works with you to provide foundational reading material, elements necessary to set-up your practice and develop your first-year launch plan, and a week of on-site training with a veteran C12 Chair (and perhaps one or two other incoming Chairs). After launch, C12 provides feedback from the training week, on-going interaction with C12 s VP of Field Operations, four months of sales coaching, as well as on-going encouragement, tools, and regularly-scheduled monthly Chair calls to help you stay on track. Chairs attend quarterly face-to-face workshops to engage in iron-sharpening-iron dialog with peer Chairs; attendance is required at Fall and Spring training while Winter and Summer workshops are optional Chair gatherings. The C12 Home Office is behind you all the way, providing proven methods and targeted materials and tools to help your practice thrive. What are the qualities of a successful Chair? Successful Chairs are committed to serving the Lord and seeking His wisdom through daily quiet time with Him and His Word. C12 is all about applying the essentials of a Biblical Christian faith to life, leadership, and business. A successful Chair is persistent in diligently working to expose the C12 offering to qualified prospects in their territory through direct marketing, one-on-one conversations, introductory luncheons, seminar and workshop offerings, and by tapping into referrals from existing members and the community. Successful Chairs are 100% committed to the mission of expanding the Kingdom of God through the companies and lives of those He has called to run businesses for Him. 6
What s the growth potential of a C12 franchise? The potential for growth in a C12 practice is determined by the determination and diligence of the Chair. Many C12 practices have experienced great growth through the combination of fulltime focus and the addition of Associate Chairs. Each market has a potential far greater than one Chair can fully plumb. Working with C12 s Home Office to identify and train another Chair for the territory is a serious consideration once you ve established your C12 practice and seek to serve your metro area or region more fully. What if I haven t owned a business? Having owned your own business isn t a prerequisite for becoming a C12 Chair. However, C12 Chairs possess proven general management and leadership abilities, preferably in senior-most positions with successful business unit P&L experience. Many have brought Fortune 500 executive experiences to the table and needed to learn the ins and outs of small business ownership. If you re not sure whether you qualify, contact us to start the conversation. Together, we can decide if becoming a C12 Chair is right for you. Interested in the C12 Franchise Opportunity?
