Venture Capital for Open Innovation Forfas, Dublin, 1-2 June 2006 Summary EIRMA/06.070, May 2006 The Round Table is being organised by EIRMA and the Irish IRDG together with a number of industrial development focused state organisations to give members of the Industrial R&D community and Venture Capitalists an opportunity to exchange views, experiences and requirements: how does the Venture Capital community value innovative companies and how can companies communicate the value creation aspect of R&D to the Venture Capital community (finding the right language and partners). In three sessions, the programme will bring together Venture Capital companies, Corporate Venture organisations, and Start-ups to discuss VC issues related to innovativeness in different industries: Biotech and Pharma, Software, and IT and electronics. There will also be a presentation on the activities of InvestorNet and how Gate-to-Growth sees the role of VC in promoting R&D and start-ups. InvestorNet and Gate-to-Growth are European initiatives led through DG Enterprise. Who Should Attend This Round Table addresses specific aspects of Open Innovation: understanding Venture Capital s motivation and ways of funding of innovative activities such as technology spinouts or high potential start-ups that could supplement a large company s own innovation capabilities. People with responsibilities for incubators, new business development, and acquisition of small technology companies, as well as those small companies interested in linking up with larger organisations are therefore most likely to attend this meeting. The Chairmen of the three sessions represent Microsoft Corporation, Microsoft Ireland and Intel Ireland. To Register Return the registration form (enclosed; also available at www.eirma.asso.fr) by mail or fax by 20 th May 2006.
