Purpose. To inform Fleet Marine Force (FMF) commanders and certain supporting establishment training commands in advance about the Shop Set, Field Maintenance, Ordnance Contact Van, M1010 CUCV (hereinafter referred to as the Van). 2. Background. Twenty-five M1010 CUCV ambulances have been configured as Vans. The Van is a self-contained workshop, and is capable of garrison and tactical utilization. 3. General Information a. Item Being Introduced to the Field. The Van is a reconfigured ambulance that replaces the M886 ambulance used with Table of Authorized Materiel Control Number (TAMCN) E1715. It is to be used for technical inspections and quick field expedient repairs of ordnance equipment. Technical manuals, references (a) and (b), and stocklists will be delivered with the vehicle. See enclosures (1) and (2). b. Supplemented Item. The Van is to be used to complement the current shop sets on the table of equipment (T/E) of support units. c. Training Required To Place Equipment In Service. No additional special training is required other than tactical drivers licensing.
MCO 8000.2 d. Test Equipment Required. No special test equipment is required other than previously provided for the basic vehicle and components. e. Repair Parts Support. Support will be the same as provided for the ambulance. f. Combat Action Replacement Factors. None listed. g. Retrofit and Modification Kits. All retrofit and modification kits required to reconfigure the ambulance will be delivered to the depot maintenance activities. h. Technical Representatives. None will be used. i. Maintenance Support. The owning unit is authorized first echelon maintenance on the Van. Second through fourth echelons will be accomplished per locally established procedures for each battalion. j. Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportability (PHS&T) (1) The Van and special tools shall be processed per references (c), (d), and (e). (2) General purpose warehouse storage is required for the Van and storage shall be accomplished per reference (f). (3) The PHS&T requirements for hazardous materiels will be per reference (g). k. Initiating Service. The Van will be fielded in fiscal year 1988. The Van will not be subjected to Marine Automated Reporting Evaluation Systems readiness reporting. 4. Action Required From the Field a. The Van is a controlled item and will be reported per reference (h). b. The Van will be placed in service upon receipt. c. The prescribed allowances for Reserve units will be shipped at the direction of the Commanding General, 4th Marine Division (MarDiv). 2
