1 WELCOME Distinguished Participants and Advisors, We would like to sincerely extend our warmest welcome, and look forward to your participation in Asian Youth Leaders Travel and Learning Camp 2014. The Asian Youth Leaders Travel and Learning Camp (AYLTLC) is being organized for the 3rd time in Singapore. As compared to AYLTLC 2012 & AYLTLC 2013, we will be bringing the Camp to a whole new level. This year, we will be incorporating the learning and travelling in the largest cruise of Asia. Apart from learning about Singapore - a multiracial, multilingual and multicultural society, our student leaders will also have the opportunity to get a closer understanding about the differing approach of development in Malaysia. Nevertheless, what they can learn here may not only be unique to Singapore and Malaysia, but also applicable to their home countries as well as the increasingly interconnected and interdependent world. We will do our best to provide you a truly comfortable, resourceful and unforgettable Singapore experience. Once again, we sincerely welcome you to the Asian Youth Leaders Travel and Learning Camp 2014. Hope to meet you soon in our Island Home!! The Organizing Committee, AYLTLC 2014 welcome 2

2 SINGAPORE Situated at the south of Malay Peninsula, shrouded by tropical sunshine, Singapore has been described as Asian Economic Miracle, a thriving cosmopolitan city brimming with racial diversity as well as a fine mixture of culture, language, arts and architecture. Singapore rose to prominence largely due to her strategical position as a trading port, a stable Government and its probusiness policies and institutions, which is of paramount importance for Multi-National Companies (MNC) to gain confidence and invest in. Through the years after Independence, the nation had developed its economic prowess and gain much respect in terms of international standing. Educational quality and a diverse culture has always been Singapore s pride. While continuing to act as the regional center, embracing diversity while maintaining her uniqueness, Singapore is reputed as a home for all people. singapore 3

3 MALACCA Used to be a southern region of Malay Peninsula s fishing village, Malaysia s Malacca is home to numerous historical attractions and one of the earliest Malay sultanates was located there.
