Last year, alone, the University at Albany s faculty generated more than $450 million in research expenditures. 4

ETEC: Creating an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Atmospheric and Environmental Science Biomedical Science and Biotechnology Forensic Science and Cyber Security Advanced Data Analytics 8

TRANSFORMATIVE R&D CLUSTERS Atmospheric and Environmental Science E TEC will pursue advances in environmental prediction to ensure government can prepare for natural disasters, help climatesensitive industries make smarter business decisions, and speed the development of clean energy systems. 10

TRANSFORMATIVE R&D CLUSTERS Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology E TEC will pursue advances in treatments for neurodegenerative diseases, infectious disease, and cancer, and growing jobs in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. 11

TRANSFORMATIVE R&D CLUSTERS Forensic Science and Cyber Security E TEC will build on the University s internationally recognized strength in crime scene forensics technology and counterterrorism and homeland security research. 12

TRANSFORMATIVE R&D CLUSTERS Advanced Data Analytics E TEC will build on the University s strength in developing analytic techniques and computational tools that will make New York based industries more competitive. 13

Cutting edge industry partners. Seven corporations and private spin off enterprises have already expressed interest in partnering with E TEC. DIRECTGAIN SIRGA ADVANCED BIOPHARMA 14

E TEC will fuel research at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering E TEC R&D will strengthen collaborations with CNSE, particularly in the areas of biotechnology, instrumentation, environmental sensors and solar energy research. 15

E TEC will be constructed and located on the Main Campus 225,000 square feet for laboratories, classrooms, and business development offices East side of Main Campus 16

E TEC will create short term jobs in addition to long term economic opportunity CONSTRUCTION COSTS: $165 million to build a state of the art educational and research facility JOBS: 1,587 constructions jobs TIMELINE: Kick off in: 2013 Completion in: 2017 17

UALBANY NYSUNY 2020 IMPACT ENSURING AFFORDABILITY & ACCESS In order to ensure that access and affordability are protected, an amount equal to 30% per year of the undergraduate tuition increase $5.2 Million will be set aside for TAP eligible students. 28

UALBANY NYSUNY 2020 IMPACT ENSURING AFFORDABILITY & ACCESS We will also increase the level of merit based financial assistance by $2.5 million to programs including our Carson Carr and Frederick Douglas scholarship programs. 29

UALBANY NYSUNY 2020 IMPACT ECONOMIC IMPACT The Capital Region Economic Development Council unanimously approved the University at Albany s NYSUNY 2020 plan as a Transformational Project 36

UALBANY NYSUNY 2020 IMPACT STRONG COMMUNITY SUPPORT More than 300 Capital Region business and community leaders and more than 2,000 friends of UAlbany have come together in support of the University s NYSUNY 2020 plan. 37
