Revised April 2012 ARTICULATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN ST. CHARLES COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI Associate Degree in Nursing to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing OVERVIEW: This articulation agreement is made and entered into by the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing, hereinafter referred to as MUSSON, and St. Charles Community College, Cottleville, Missouri hereinafter referred to as SCC. By this agreement, SCC and MUSSON express a shared commitment to increasing opportunities for student access to and success in higher education. By clarifying transfer policies and procedures which assure articulation between programs, the institutions seek to assist students in making a seamless transfer from the associate to the baccalaureate degree. PURPOSE: This agreement provides students who have earned an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) the opportunity to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at MU. Any SCC student who has earned an ADN degree as outlined below is guaranteed that MU will accept designated SCC credits, will apply such to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in a manner consistent with the treatment of generic MUSSON students. CONDITIONS OF TRANSFER: SCC students maintaining continuous enrollment under this agreement will be afforded the same treatment and protections as MU native students enrolled under a specific catalog. Criteria for acceptance into the articulated program at MU will be the same for transfer as for native students. SCC, upon request of students, will provide verification of completed courses to MU Sinclair School of Nursing. The transcript of students transferring from SCC will be evaluated by the MU Office of Admissions. Students are to have a cumulative GPA of 2.8. Transfer students from SCC will have access to financial aid and student services on the same basis as native students. MU will apply the same academic progress and graduation standards to SCC transfer students as those applicable to native students at MU. 1

SECTION II: TRANSFER OF CREDIT A maximum of 94 hours will be accepted by MUSSON from SCC to be applied to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Twenty-six (26) of the last 30 semester hours of credit must be completed at MU (residency requirement) to be applied to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Transfer students from SCC, meeting the criteria listed below will be accepted into the RN/BSN Option at the MU, Sinclair School of Nursing. Criteria for Admittance to MU, Sinclair School of Nursing, RN/BSN Option Undergraduate Admissions to Mizzou. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended on file with the Admissions Office. A transcript review on file. Current licensure as an RN in the United States. Successful completion of all general education and prerequisite coursework. Minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale) for all college/university courses. Evidence of capacity to uphold the practice standards and ethical codes of the nursing profession. 2

* The St. Charles Community College Academic Skills Assessment Test is required before enrolling in English or Math, or Chemistry. The prerequisite for Introduction to Chemistry is Beginning Algebra (MAT 098 or MAT 120). The student needs to EITHER pass a Beginning Algebra class with a grade of C or higher, or test into Intermediate Algebra through the St. Charles Community College Assessment Test. The prerequisite for Anatomy & Physiology I is high school algebra within the last five years, BIO 110, Human Biology or BIO 101/103, General Biology (or high school Biology within the last five years). All science courses and prerequisites must have been taken within the last five years and passed with a C or better in order to be applied toward the Associate of Science Degree. CHARLES COMMUNITY COLLEGE ADN to MU BSN Option - general education course requirements St. Charles Community College Associate Degree nursing graduates who do not have an AA Degree must complete an additional 18 hours of general education credits in the following areas prior to admission. They will also need to complete 9 hours of nursing prerequisites. These courses are Human Growth and Development or Lifespan, Pharmacology, and Nutrition. St. Charles Community College students who have an AA Degree and have completed their Associate s Degree in nursing will have MU s general education requirements waived. These students having an AA Degree and an ADN will only have 9 additional hours of MU nursing required prerequisites to complete prior to Admission. TERMS OF AGREEMENT: This agreement is made and entered into in the academic year 2011-2012 and remains in force unless changed in writing by mutual agreement of both parties. The agreement may be amended at any time with the approval of both parties and is subject to annual review to assure currency with the respective degree requirements. Should either party desire to discontinue this agreement, advance notification of two years will be required.
