Workers are needed for 2 hour shifts from 11am-8pm. I need 15-20 desserts are also needed for this event. Pies, cakes, brownies, or cookies can be made. Please let Sarah know if you can work or make a dessert. Desserts will need to be at the Extension Office by 10:30am on the 14th. This will count towards your county wide event worked on your member in good standing sheet for 2018-19. It s almost awards time! See attached sheet on the awards available. Project records and MO Recognition Forms are due on Oct. 1 and leadership awards and officers books are due on Oct. 9. Sarah has copies of project records and MO Recognition forms all levels in the office and they can also be found at 4h.missouri.edu/ resources-and-forms. Scroll all the way to the bottom subtitle is recognition and awards and you will find fillable pdf s of these forms. We will be judging the reports and books possibly on October 4 and October 22. If you are available to come help judge please let Sarah know. We are requesting at least 1-2 helpers from each club. Like us at Callawayco4h! It is attached along with county wide fundraisers we will be doing this year. There will be committee sign up sheets at our Kick Ball tournament on October 14. We will be needing adult volunteers for the following: EXPO food booth, 4-H Senior Council, Livestock Committee, United Way Events, Awards, 4-H Expo Events, 4-H to Expo Liaison, SPIN Club Support, and Fundraisers. Thanks for your extra help!

August 31, 2018 County Happenings United Way Kick Off-The Callaway County United Way will have their kick off and radiothon on Friday, September 14. They have asked for 4-H to bring pies and assorted desserts that do not need to be refrigerated and will also need our help at the event. More information is on the attached flyer. The United Way funds received from this event directly helps fund ribbons, materials, and trainings for Callaway County 4-H. 4-H Online-4-H online will not be available the month of September for sign up or any other information. New project material-looking for some new material to use for your projects or looking for a totally new project to learn about this year. Ask Sarah what materials are available for the upcoming year. Kick ball tournament-october 14 from 1pm-4pm at Veteran s Park in Fulton. Attached is a flyer about our county wide kick off event. This is for all families and anyone interested in 4-H. Snacks will be provided. Club Meeting Ideas National 4-H has partnered with HughesNet to establish the 4-H STEM Lab with hands on activities for a variety of ages of youth. A few examples are found here. https://4-h.org/parents/stem-agriculture/youth-stem-activities/ These hands-on activities are designed to instill curiosity, and critical thinking, helping kids develop the skills needed to be successful in life. They are also fun, easy to do, and feature a messy factor just for you! The activities come with a PDF of the step by step and supply list. These could be good possibilities for 4-H SPIN Club activities around STEM. CLUB LEADER REMINDER-LG760 Youth Service form and club meeting reports are due in September. 4-H Dues Re-enrollment Dues: State $20, County $5 (until Dec. 31) After Dec. 31, 2018 County dues go up: $10 for Jan. 2019 $15 Feb. 2019, $20 for March-July 2019 State dues will continue to be $20 for all re-enrolling families. New members Dues: State $20, County $5 (until July 2018) Open enrollment will begin on October 1 for the new 4-H year. Every volunteer (new & old) will need to do a new background check. The state is switching to the Family Care Registry system. Form is attached. Regional Happenings Linn County Dog Show-Linn County will be hosting a 4-H/FFA dog show on October 27 from 9am-4pm. See flyer in Aug. 20 newsletter. The show will be run by the newest AKC rules. State Happenings State Fashion Revue-September 22 in Columbia on the MU campus. 4-HOnline registration will open July 1 - August 31. You can visit the State Fashion Revue website for more information http://4h.missouri.edu/fashion-revue 1st Annual Missouri 4-H Sporting Clays Charity Shoot-Saturday, October 6 at Prairie Grove Shotgun Sports in Columbia. Registration form attached. Money raised will supporting the Missouri 4-H Shooting Sports program and endowment fund. Global Education-We are partnering with Japan, Finland, Costa Rica, and Korea for our 2019 Global Outbound Experience. Deadline for application and deposit is November 1, 2018 at the state office. Other Happenings Sheep & Goat Conference- The 3rd annual Missouri Sheep and Goat Conference will be held on Oct. 12 & 13. COUNTY LEADER AND VOLUNTEER AWARDS These awards are given to leaders who meet the criteria for each award and are nominated by either members, club leaders, project leaders, parents or other interested individuals. If wanting to nominate a leader please fill out the Leader Nomination Form. First Year Man A male leader in his first year of leadership is eligible. Leadership roles eligible are project leader, club leader, activity leader and county 4-H Council committee member. First Year Woman A female leader in her first year of leadership is eligible. Leadership roles for consideration are the same as First Year Man. Project Leader of the Year Any project leader who has completed their project leader role is eligible. Club Leader of the Year Any club leader or assistant club leader is eligible for nomination. Expo Award Any 4-H volunteer involved in the Callaway Youth Expo is eligible. Teamwork Award Club leaders, project leaders, committee members or any other volunteers who work together as a team are eligible for this award. Special Award This award is designed to allow the Council to honor special volunteers who may not fit in the categories above. Nominate any individual, team, or business who you feel is especially deserving. Golden Circle Award Two awards are given to persons who have been nominated but did not receive the above awards. These are a special group of people that have been recognized by their peers. Club Leader nominations must be submitted by the date stated by the Extension Center. ****Please fill out the leader award nomination form for these awards.
