Event information Overview A unique event featuring outstanding speakers and providing informative lessons about how health, safety and wellbeing is managed in space. The Director of the UK National Space Centre, Professor Anu Ojha OBE, will lead the sessions and explore four key phases: preparation, launch, space flight and activities in space. There will be reflections on the influence this has had on our day-today management of safety. NSA Head of Teaching and Learning, Andy McMurray, will also present on his extensive knowledge and experiences. A combination of presentations and hands-on opportunities will be provided. An exciting day, not to be missed! What s in it for you? The event will broaden your knowledge and introduce new learning in the following areas: - challenges of launch including fuel systems, ballistics, launch management and safety - spacecraft operations including equipment-testing and the radiation, thermal and pressure risks for orbital operations - how the design, build and flight-qualifying on an experimental payload for the International Space Station was carried out - human spaceflight and safety the risks - wider lessons what we ve learned from human spaceflight and how it has influenced policy and practice in other areas You will also be able to record any learning outcomes as part of your CPD and gain some excellent network opportunities with like-minded professionals. There will be an open forum afterwards for general discussion on everyday issues and concerns. Who should attend This event is open to all health and safety professionals, at all levels, including members and non-members.
