All residents with capacity to make decisions about leaving the home are given the codes to doors and may leave at any time. All meals are home cooked and we are able to meet any dietary requirements of our residents. We re able to offer options and choices to try to make meal times as positive as possible while maintaining health.
Service Provision at South Africa Lodge Before admission all residents will be assessed by a senior nurse or manager. The pre-admission assessment will determine the level of service required and the formulation of an initial care plan. The admission care plan will be augmented in the early weeks after admission following further assessment. Our care plans carefully consider the ambitions and needs of residents who always remain central to our work. Whenever possible we encourage the participation of resident s families and friends in the pre-admission assessment. All residents care is then reviewed on a monthly basis through our internal multidisciplinary team (MDT). Moving forward we then conduct six monthly reviews to which families and case managers are invited. South Africa Lodge has a service level agreement with a local G.P, which allows for twice weekly visits to the home. Residents at South Africa Lodges fees are funded in one of four ways. Simply, these are self-funding, adult social care funding, and health service funding or shared funding packages. We encourage potential residents and their families to discuss the funding of South Africa Lodge with their social worker or another professional. Residents who are not funded by the health service may be entitled to a funded nursing care (FNC) contribution towards their fees If you require assistance, we can advise and help you in your application for FNC. Ours is an almost all inclusive service with no additional costs for elements of care or treatment, the only exceptions being visits from the hairdresser and chiropodist. The home is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and was rated as Good in their last inspection.
