MAJOR GENERAL HOWARD & BESSIE McGEE EAGLE SCOUT SCHOLARSHIPS DANIEL AND BERNICE CONDIT & BRUCE KENNEDY SCHOLARSHIP 2014 APPLICATION FORM FOR ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION ONLY Description: Through the generosity of Scouting supporters five scholarships will be presented to high school juniors or seniors at the Eagle Banquet on Thursday, May 1, 2014. (2) - $3,000 Major General Howard & Bessie McGee Eagle Scout Scholarships (1) - $3,000 Bruce Kennedy Scholarship (1) - $5,000 Daniel and Bernice Condit Scholarship (1) - Eagle Scouts of Western Washington (ESWW) Scholarship All Scholarships are to be used for tuition at an accredited college or trade school. For Eagle Scouts in 7 th through 10 th grades, please wait until your junior or senior year to apply for the scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of schooling, service in the community and Scouts, character and need. Procedure: The Eagle Scout applying for a scholarship must complete the electronic application personally. Only one recommendation letter and one transcript must be attached (see requirement #5). Fill out the application form completely and submit via email. Also attach the a) recommendation letter b) transcript with the form and email it to kmajumdar@seattlebsa.org Only those applications received before 11:59pm on Monday, April 7, 2014 will be considered. Be advised that applications become the property of the selection committee and will not be returned to the applicant. By May 1, 2014, the selection committee will notify those selected of its decision. Written notification will not be sent to applicants except those selected. Submitting an application is, in no way, a guarantee that a scholarship will be granted. There is no appeal and the decision of the selection committee is final. NO paper applications please. Requirements: All applicants must: 1. Have been granted the Eagle Scout rank. 2. Submit applications online before 11:59pm April 7, 2014. 3. Be a high school junior or senior. 4. Have demonstrated leadership ability in Scouting and a strong record of participation in activities outside of Scouting. 5. Attach one signed recommendation letter from a volunteer or professional Scout leader who knows the applicant personally. This letter should attest to the general character of the applicant. Endorsements from teachers, counselors, etc. will not be considered. Also attach a copy of the applicant s high school transcript.
