MONMOUTH COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL RECORD BOOK [revised July 2018] TEAM HISTORY Men's basketball made its intercollegiate debut at Monmouth at the start of the century in the 1899-1900 academic year. Midwest Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) competition started in 1922 and Monmouth joined the league in the 1924-25 season. MCAC divisional play began in 1976-77 with East and West Divisions, which were changed to North and South Divisions in 1982-83. Monmouth was a member of the West and South Divisions before divisional alignment was discontinued after the 1997-98 season. The current Midwest Conference (MWC) was formed from the merger of the MCAC (men) and MACW (women) conferences in 1994 and both leagues have used a postseason tournament format to determine the conference champion since the 1979-80 season. Monmouth has won seven conference championship titles in school history, three by virtue of winning the postseason tournament. The program recorded its 1000th all-time victory in the 1994-95 season to join an elite group of NCAA Division III schools to reach that milestone. Home games were played in Waid Gymnasium from 1925 to 1983 and the college's present court in Glennie Gymnasium has been used since the 1983 season.
