(NEW) West End School Monthly coaching sessions similar to mentoring programs with Rotary Promise high schools adjusted for grades 6-8. Rotary Fund 6. Rotary Foundation Maximum $7,000 Total project $47,000 Goal is to contribute $47,000 in support of the Rotary Foundation. We believe we can raise at least $40,000 though individual donations and fundraising events. a. Every Rotarian Every Year $5,000 maximum Club must raise $100/member for Rotary Foundation to maintain the prestigious STAR status with RI. The contributions support RI international projects via the World Fund and a portion is returned to districts to apply to global and district grants to clubs. The annual target this year is $45,000. b. Polio Plus $2,000 RI asks each club to donate $2,000 each year to the Rotary Fund which is matched by Gates Foundation, UN s World Health Organization, and national governments. Page 1 of 6

Louisville Rotary Promise Scholarship: Mentors & Awards Ceremony $4,800 Certificates and medallions for graduating Rotary Promise Scholars at annual graduation celebration event at our club plus guest lunches for students, high school staff, education partners. 8. (NEW) Rotary Promise Mentors $1,000 Monthly one-hour sessions with students at Western and Iroquois High Schools, Grant would be for handouts and supplies. 9. Leadership Fellows Program $5,000 plus $1,000 Club Total Project $11,000 Two $5,000 scholarships funded 50/50 by Rotary Fund and Baylor Landrum Fund at Community Foundation. $1,000 from club budget to pay for Fellows to attend Rotary meetings and for guest to attend graduation. 10. Speech Contest $1,200 Participation with other Rotary Clubs in Rotary District speech contest - for scholarships. 11. Unsung Heroes $9,500 Total Project $62,250 including Ted Buerck Scholarship (see next item) & $16,000 Colleges match Our contribution to Metro Louisville Rotary Club Charities. Balance of cost will be contributed by other metro clubs and from participating universities offering scholarships and matching Ted Buerck Scholarships (See next item) 12. Theodore Buerck Scholarship $16,000 Four-year scholarships ($2,000 per year) for two recipients chosen form among Unsung Heroes. Matched by UofL, Bellarmine, & Spalding. Paid from bequest to Rotary Fund designated for scholarships. 13. (NEW) Rotaract/Interact $1,000 Funds to energize clubs. Could be used to subsidize logo wear T-shirts or polo shirts for Interact members; pay for Rotary attendance by members of either Rotaract or Interact; support attendance at the District Convention; or support a project undertaken by one of the clubs. 14. (CARRY-OVER) Imagination Library $5,000 (balance of $10,000 approved in 2016-17) Authorization to fulfill balance of $10,000 pledge to support a five-year Imagination Library program in three Louisville inner city zip codes. Its goal is to foster a lifelong love of reading and learning from an early age by providing pre-schoolers a free hardcover book every month from birth to the age of five. Has signed up more than 250 of the 500 children goal with plans now to add additional zip codes. Total project costs is $75,000. WAVE-3 is driving force and media sponsor. Rotary Club is prominently acknowledged in promotion. The program is a partnership of WAVE3, the Junior League, and the Jefferson County Public Education Foundation. 15. (NEW) Imagination Library $10,000 ($5,000 this year and $5,000 in 2017-18) Request to continue support of this program as it enters second phase of fund-raising to add additional zip codes in Metro Louisville. The Rotary Club would continue to receive recognition as a supporter in WAVE3 promotions, social media, and printed material. 16. (CARRY-OVER) Honor Flights $1,000 ($2,000 District 6710 Foundation) Total Project $4,000 Underwrite cost of one-day Honor Flight trips to Washington DC war memorials for interested club members who are WWII veterans @ $500 each. Solicit volunteer chaperone ( Guardian ) from club to be trained and accompany each vet @ $250 each with balance of $500 contributed by the volunteer. Money to be paid to 501(3)(c) Honor flights of the Bluegrass. 17. (CARRY-OVER) LifeChange: Exercise, Recovery Program Adherence and Health Outcomes in Homeless Men $1,956 See description below. Since the program runs September-August, not all of the expenses were billed by Bellarmine by June 30th. This represents the remaining balance of the grant. 18. (2nd YEAR) LifeChange: Exercise, Recovery Program Adherence and Health Outcomes in Homeless Men $5,028 Total Project $15,016 Year 2 of this program: The goal is to improve health, fitness, and health-related quality of life for homeless men from the Rescue Mission participating in the LifeChange Program as well as promote program adherence. Through a partnership with Bellarmine University, the Louisville Rescue Mission, and the YMCA, the men will have access to the 2 nd Street YMCA each week for 8 months (fall and spring Bellarmine semesters). During the time at the YMCA, Bellarmine professors will provide instruction and one-on-one guidance regarding fitness and wellness goals. 19. (NEW) Boys & Girls Haven Renovation $5,000 Renovate and furnish the recreation room at one of the cottages as part of a year-and-a-half Campus Revitalization project supported by other businesses and organizations. (NEW) New Member Celebration $1,200 Total Project $5,280 Three events throughout the year, hosted at different nonprofits which will arrange one-hour service projects for the new members and other Rotarian attendees. Other sources: club, attendee fees 21. (RECURRING) Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) $1,100 Scholarships for 4 students (2 each from Western and Iroquois) to attend weekend Rotary s summer leadership program. Awarded to Interact Club members associated with Rotary Promise. 22. (NEW) Louisville Sign $0 Funded in 2016-17, but not yet constructed. Our Own Global Grant 23. (NEW) India, Poona Economic Independence and Education $10,000 Total Project $50,000 International Services Committee: We anticipate that this will be a Global Grant Application in partnership with the Poona Midtown Club in Pune, Maharashtra, India, and will be seeking funds also from the Lexington Club and their District, and may also seek support from other Kentucky Clubs. An Indian Social Enterprise, Aarohana Ecosocial Developments, is already working with the Club in Poona, and will partner in this effort as well. 24. End Cervical Cancer in Haiti $5,000 toward Global Grant* Total project: $78,000 minimum with $73,000 balance needed from Global Grant $46,800 and other Rotary Clubs $27,200 Implement simple method of detecting and treating cervical cancer in country where there are no pap smears, pathologists or cancer treatments and 10,000 women a year contract HVP (human papillomavirus). Comment: This amount was approved by the Rotary Fund during 2015-16 and 2016-17. This is a global grant in progress. The grant has been written and reviewed by the Haiti Desk in Evanston, Ill. The Rotary Foundation would prefer the grant go the Ministry of Health in Haiti and is hesitant about making the grant to Bob Hilgers nonprofit clinic in Haiti. Discussion continue. Page 4 of 6

Global Grant: supporting another U.S. Club s grant 25. (CARRY-OVER) Ghana: Techiman Water $5,250 Total project $127,728 We are participating in a Global Grant request led by the Rotary Club of Rocky Mount, Virginia. Provide 24 new wells, repair 16 wells, provide 10 new small town water systems, implement 150 micro flush toilets with hygiene training. 26. (CARRY-OVER) Columbia: Water Project $2,100 Total Project $41,000 This project will provide clean water, working septic systems, kitchen gardens and instruction on recycling and environmental protection in eight isolated schools in a mountainous area of Colombia until recently troubled by domestic violence. Grant request along with match from District and Rotary Foundation would complete funding for project to be led by Rotary Club Oakland CA working with Rotary Clubs in Columbia. 27. (NEW) Ghana, Wa: Clinic and Water & Sanitation project. $3,150 Total Project $69,100 Our goal is to provide communities with clean water with three new wells, two repaired wells, thirteen Microflush toilets with hand washing and hygiene training. We are shipping two containers of medical equipment in partnership with Supplies Over Seas in Louisville: Lead on this effort is Walter Hughes in the Rocky Mount Virginia Club. 28. (NEW) El Salvador: Water & Sanitation $5,000 (Plus $4,000 DDF) Total Project $25,000 Promote a safe, healthy and high-quality learning environment through the access to decent health services and basic hygiene education. Construction of washable bathrooms segregated by gender and special abilities: 350 students considering the standard ratio of one toilet for every 25 girls and a urinal and toilet for every 40 boys. Sponsored by: Toileton Alliance El Salvador: Club Rotary Maquilishuat and World Vision El Salvador. U.S. Sponsor is Oakland CA International: Supporting Foreign Club s Global Grant 29. (NEW) Brazil: Breast Milk Bank $5,000 (Plus $5,000 DDF) Total Project: $48,777 Local Rotary Club in partnership with local hospital, established a Breast Milk Bank to increase rates of breast-feeding to improve the health and survival rates of babies partnership. Now seeks to augment the functionality of the Breast Milk Bank by acquiring equipment to analyze the protein and carbohydrate content of milk bank milk to enhance the safety and efficacy of use of breast bank milk in feeding of pre-term infants who remain in incubators in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The aim of this Global Grant request is to reduce the incidence of enterocolitis and other diseases affecting low-weight preterm infants. Page 5 of 6

International: RCL Direct Grants 30. (NEW) Guatemala: Women s Enterprise $4,640 (Plus District DDF Match $3,000) Total Project: $9,890 Start-up Materials for 15 micro-business women. Mayan Power and Light (MPL) is a social venture that teaches young Mayan women about electricity, circuits and solar power, and incubates woman owned solar businesses. As they turn their training into practice selling their first solar kits, LED lights and water filters, they need materials like signage advertising their contact information, flyers, uniforms, Kill-a-Watt meters and product samples to reach her clients. 31. (CONTINUING) Haiti - Supplies for Pediatric Clinic $0 Funds were disbursed in 2016-17. Awaiting delivery of supplies. 32. (CONTINUING) Kiva Micro-loans International: Previous Grant 2015-16 grant of $ 8,000 by the Club allows the nonprofit Kiva to grant micro-loans to entrepreneurs in the immigrant/refugee community. $5,900 has been disbursed so far as loans; $0 default; $2,965 has been repaid; $5,065 is available for loans as of July 1, 2017. Contingencies 33. (NEW) Impact Project $10,000 Reserved for impact project such as a project in the West End or project regarding human trafficking. 34.
