June 12, 2018 SEND NEWS ITEMS TO: mesa@sistersofmercy.org New Principal at Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Syosset, NY Sandra Betters has been named the new principal of Our Lady of Mercy Academy (OLMA), Syosset, New York. She will officially join OLMA on July 16, 2018.
Betters, writes OLMA President Margaret Myhan, is "a very talented and missiondriven educational leader and administrator," who comes to OLMA from Rockland County Day School where she served as Academic Dean. In this independent school model, she reported to the Head of School and served in the role of Principal. Prior, she served for nearly 10 years at The Albany Academies. "Her professional experience also includes leadership roles for curriculum development, professional development, teacher mentorship, Gifted and Talented Department Chair, and Professional Learning Community (PLC) leadership. Prior to serving as an administrator, she taught senior high school English, middle school history and English, and she briefly taught at the elementary level."
