Mission Statement: To develop, implement and support a comprehensive campus-wide educational and research environment focused on experiential learning in design, innovation and technical entrepreneurship 2003 Project Sponsor Fair
The Integrated Product Development Program (IPD) at Lehigh University encompasses students, faculty and courses from the Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Business & Economics, Engineering & Applied Science and Education. Our multidisciplinary project team approach to technical entrepreneurship fosters an environment that encourages innovation, creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit within the realities of design, business and engineering functions. Entrepreneurship on campus is promoted through k-12 outreach, courses and curricula, summer programs, clubs, our Small Business Development Center support, Ben Franklin Incubator, our new alumni entrepreneurial network and our annual Invitation to Innovate A campus wide search for student entrepreneurs and their innovations The winners of the Invitation to Innovate receive seed funding of $2,000 as well as use of Lehigh s new facility for entrepreneurship and product development, the Wilbur Powerhouse, plus a faculty advisor, and the support of the IPD staff and infrastructure. Winner ITI 2002 Student Entrepreneur Rachel Mandeville ~ The No- Student Entrepreneur Adam Kornfield ~ Glow Friends revolutionizes the classic friendship bracelet by offering preteen girls a visual indication that one of their friends is within a hundred yards. Glow Friends expands by allowing easy addition and removal of friends and their bracelets. Winner ITI 2002 Dip-Paintstick is a revolutionary self-contained art utensil. The innovative aspect of this brush is that the paint is held internally within the handle of the brush so that there is no need to dip the brush in paint. To release the paint through the bristles, the user simply squeezes the soft plastic handle, releasing the paint held within. Switching between colors is easy; since each paint color will be conveniently stored in a different brush, there is no need to rinse brushes between usage.

The intense teamwork skills I developed. What students like about Integrated Product Development : I Learned a lot about real industry including dealing with the frustration. At first I thought I would work for a big company when I graduate, now I want to start a company of my own It allows intimate design of a product intended for a real world application.
