Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) August 27 & 28, 2016 Online Course Access & Preparation Registrants will be sent an email from the ALSO staff prior to the course with a link to the Online Learning Portion. Before the live portion of the course, participants will complete the following steps on-line: 1. Pre-Assessment 2. ALSO Presentation Review 3. Five Question Quiz (following each presentation) 4. ALSO Provider Course An educational program designed to enhance cognitive and procedural skills of health care professionals to help them manage obstetrical emergencies. This course is directed primarily toward maternity care providers including physicians, nurses, and certified nurse midwives. Overall Course Objectives Discuss ways of improving the management of obstetrical urgencies and emergencies which may help standardize the skills of practicing maternity care providers; Discuss the importance of utilizing regional maternity care services and identify possible barriers which might limit access; and Successfully complete the course written test and megadelivery testing station. Detailed educational objectives are listed at the beginning of each ALSO course syllabus chapter. Participants requiring special accommodations should contact Continuing Medical Education & Professional Development, as early as possible. Accreditation Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending. The American Academy of Family Physicians is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. Both will be distributed to participants by the course sponsor. Registration Due to a limited enrollment of 60 participants, advanced registration is encouraged. All registrations received on or before August 11, 2016 will be confirmed by mail, and it will include a confirmation letter, a map showing the conference location and parking, and a Syllabus of Materials. If you have not received your confirmation letter, you may call UNM CME at 505-272-3942 to confirm your registration. Registration fees include syllabus materials on Saturday and Sunday. Payment may be made by Visa, MasterCard, check, or institutional purchase order. A copy of the P.O. must accompany the registration.
