Maggie Benton is a 22-year old graduate of the University of Arkansas. In May of 2017 she received her Bachelor of Art in Communication. At Miss Arkansas, Maggie won a $30,000 scholarship provided by CITGO, the Skokos Foundation and the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Foundation and more than $200,000 in awards, wardrobe, transportation and gifts. Maggie s personal platform, Giving is a Gift, aims to encourage others to realize the gifts they have been given and to respond by giving freely of their resources both time and money. She believes that the rewards of giving to others are immeasurable. When we share with others, we show acts of kindness that have the potential to tremendously impact not only communities at large, but the individual lives around us. While at the University of Arkansas, Maggie was an active member of Chi Omega Fraternity and served as their Make-A-Wish Chair. In this role, she helped the fraternity raise over $73,000 for the Make-A-Wish organization. Maggie also served as the Vice-President of the University of Arkansas Associated Student Government during the 2016-2017 year. She was also a Student Ambassador, served on the Chancellor s Commission for Women and was Vice-President of Marketing for the Student Alumni Board. In the spring, Maggie was named one of the University of Arkansas Seniors of Significance. Maggie is a native of Jonesboro and is the daughter of Murray and Nancy Benton. She is a 2013 Cum Laude Graduate of Valley View High School. She has one sister, Meredith. She also has a brother, Murray, Jr., and sister in law, Sarah. Maggie is the granddaughter of Bill and Helen Benton of Heber Springs and Barbara and the late Jerre Hassell of Jonesboro. Miss Arkansas Maggie Benton
Aubrey's platform is STAR Empowering America's Youth. She has spoken to over 6500 students and hopes to increase that number to over 50,000 this year as she travels the state. Aubrey plans to Graduate with honors from RHS and attend the University of Arkansas in the fall. Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Aubrey Reed Aubrey Elizabeth Reed is the 17 year old daughter of Michael and Paula Swindle of Russellville. She has two younger brothers D.A., 12 and Asher 6. She is a Senior at Russellville High School where she is Captain of the Cyclone Dance Team, Teacher Cadet, National Honor Society, Renaissance and Crown Club. One week before capturing the title of Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen she attended Arkansas Girls State and was elected Secretary for State. From there she was chosen as a top 5 finalist for the Teens in Action award, Preliminary Evening Gown, Most Talented Dancer, Overall Evening Gown, Overall Interview, and the coveted crown of MAROT. Aubrey represented Arkansas well at the Miss America's Outstanding Teen. She was chosen as a top 10 finalist for the Teens In Action award and placed in the Top 9. While at MAOT she helped raise over $1,285 for CMN.
The Miss Arkansas Scholarship Foundation is a volunteer-staffed, registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the sole fundraising entity for the Miss Arkansas Pageant. For decades, the Pageant has maintained a tradition of empowering young women to achieve their personal and professional goals while providing a forum in which to express their opinions, talents and intelligence. In 2017, Miss Arkansas contestants were awarded over $172,000 in scholarships and earned over $250,000 for in-kind products and services. Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen contestants were awarded more than $23,850 in scholarships and in-kind awards.
