News from the trail June 11-15 Welcome to Session 2 of Camp ECHO! Everyone will participate in fun camp activities which include sports, fishing, arts & crafts, eating s mores, Zumba, archery, hiking, and more! This week s field trip will be to Seafari Springs in Hanover Park. Campers will enjoy the Aqua Water Bloom, Cheetah s Run Speed Slide, Anaconda Alley Tube Slides, Dumbo s Drop Slide, and the Rhino Chute Body Slide! Please remember to pack a sack lunch, swim suit, towel and sunscreen! Below are a few important reminders about camp: **ECHO Extreme will be traveling to Vets Acres in Crystal Lake, June 12, to enjoy the nature trails, butterfly garden and splash pad. Please pack a sack lunch, swim suit and towel on this day. **Please be sure to complete an Emergency Card form for your camper if you have not already done so. Emergency cards can be found on our website at carypark.com under the Forms tab. **Please remind your campers that sharing personal belongings at camp is not allowed. This is how germs spread and we want all of our campers & staff to stay healthy. Also, please make sure you are labeling all of the belongings your child is bringing to camp. **Please make sure to send your camper with a sack lunch, lots of water, sun screen and bug spray everyday. **Campers will need to be picked up at the Community Center in the field behind the parking lot on Wednesdays and Fridays (swim days). Field trip Information Location: Seafari Springs Hanover Park, IL Day: Thursday Date: June 14 Time: 10:30 am to 1:30 pm Camp Departure: 9:30 am Camp Arrival: 2:30 pm This Field Trip Includes: Admission What I need to bring: Lunch What I may bring: Extra Money Campers are allowed to bring up to $10.00 to camp on field trip days. However, this is optional and not mandatory. The decision of bringing extra money to camp is strictly up to the parents or guardians of the camper. This week s forecast Average temperature for the week Low: 64 / High: 80 Heat Index Zones White Zone: Heat Index of 65-80 Degrees In this range, the campers are in very little danger from the heat and no special measure will be taken by the camp staff. Yellow Zone: Heat Index of 81-98 Degrees In this range counselors are instructed to take extra steps to protect their campers by making sure they keep them hydrated and encouraging brakes in the shade when needed. Orange Zone: Heat Index of 99-105 Degrees In this range camp staff will implement the same measures taken in the yellow zone. Counselors are instructed to keep all camper hydrated by making sure all water bottles are full and take frequent breaks in the Lake House, Main Pavilion, and other shaded areas. Red Zone: Heat Index ranging of 106-115 degrees All measures from the Yellow and Orange Zone will be taken. Reduce all physical activity by ten minutes and take frequent breaks in the Lake House, Main Pavilion, and other shaded areas. Black Zone: Heat Index above 115 degrees All camp activity will be moved indoors. All participants will be notified to these changes as soon as possible. Camp will resume outside once the heat index is below 115 degrees.

Best Shot Youth & Adult Amateur Photo Contest This contest is open to amateur photographers of all ages (two divisions: youth or adult). All photos must have been taken of a District park or facility or during a District recreational program or special event. Photos entered will be displayed at various Park District facilities, events, and the website. Pictures will be on display and public voting will begin for the People s Choice Award in each division. Photos will be displayed and available for voting on the Park District website and at the Community Center during July. Deadline for photos is 10:00 pm Monday, June 18. Timbertown Picket Request The Park District is providing the opportunity for individuals and families to request their fence picket that they purchased as part of the fundraising efforts during the original construction in 1994.
