08 CLUB

Looking ahead to another year for Southern Miss Athletics, thank you for the support you have shown to our nearly 400 Student- Athletes. Each day I am inspired by their enthusiasm and discipline, academically, athletically and in the community. Your passion for, and dedication to, the young men and women who compete for our athletic programs continues to produce Student- Athletes we are proud to call Golden Eagles. As we strive to build a financial base and provide our Student-Athletes the tools necessary for academic and athletic success, we also face increased operating costs. It requires a collective effort by all involved to uphold the competitive spirit we enjoy and expect of our athletic programs. The Eagle Club affords us the opportunity to enhance our financial profile, and we need your support to make that goal a reality. We continue to move our program forward with positive energy, and I have great optimism for what the future holds for Southern Miss Athletics. Our collective vision will be realized, and I greatly appreciate the key role you play on our continued journey To The Top...together. OUR MISSION In alignment with the educational mission of The University of Southern Mississippi We guide and support our Student-Athletes in their pursuit of excellence Academically, Athletically and Personally. We serve as ambassadors and advocates for our Department of Athletics and the University. Above all else, we promote and protect the safety, health and well-being of each and every one of our Student-Athletes. OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES RESPECT We treat ourselves and others with dignity, kindness and respect. POSITIVE ENERGY We have a positive energy, attitude and outlook. FOCUS We remain focused on the most important use of our time and resources. EXCELLENCE We strive for excellence in all we do. COLLABORATION We work together to get the job done. HONOR We are honorable in our thoughts and actions. To The Top! THE CLUB WHAT IS THE CLUB? The Eagle Club Scholarship Fund is a component of the Southern Miss Athletic Foundation, a registered 50 (c)(3) charitable organization. The Eagle Club s sole mission is to annually raise funds to provide nearly 400 Student-Athletes at Southern Miss with academic scholarships and educational support. All funds raised annually aid in offsetting these costs to the Southern Miss Athletics department. In 07, more than,500 dedicated alumni, friends and fans assisted the Eagle Club in providing Student-Athletes the opportunity to pursue a college degree. WHY JOIN? STUDENT-ATHLETES NEED YOUR SUPPORT! As a donor, you have an impact on each Student-Athlete at Southern Miss by helping to provide a quality education and an opportunity to represent the Golden Eagles at the highest level. Student-Athletes carry a heavy load for the University, and their hard work in competition and in the classroom is deserving of your support. INVESTING IN THE CLUB today builds the foundation for Southern Miss athletic programs and impacts Student-Athletes for years to come. A contribution at any level is greatly appreciated by nearly 400 Southern Miss Student-Athletes. HOW CAN YOU HELP? Consider increasing your annual Eagle Club gift. WAYS TO INVEST LIFELONG EXPERIENCE INDIVIDUAL SPORTS Donors may direct their support to any Southern Miss varsity sport. These gifts allow coaches the additional budget flexibility to accelerate our growth on the fields and courts of play. ENDOWMENTS Endowment giving establishes a permanent and stabilized financial base. They allow scholarships and programs to live in perpetuity, providing a living legacy of education. Donors may designate the endowment for a particular sport or program, or allow the Athletics department to make the award in the area of greatest need. CAPITAL PROJECTS Capital giving helps build the physical infrastructure needed for successful training and competition of our student-athletes. For Southern Miss Athletics to be competitive, facility upgrades and maintenance are critical. ESTATE AND PLANNED GIFTS A variety of estate giving vehicles are available, from simple bequests, to trusts and other strategies that employ a combination of gift methods. Donors will be recognized for the estimated value of the estate gift once the gift is documented. Planned gifts make a lasting impact, and in some cases, lifetime tax benefits may be realized. SOUTHERN MISS EMPLOYEES University of Southern Mississippi employees are able to contribute their annual gifts through a monthly payroll deduction. All current Southern Miss employees will be credited : for every dollar donated to the Eagle Club Scholarship Fund. For example, a Southern Miss employee who donates $50 per year to the Eagle Club will receive the benefits of a $500 member. GIFTS IN KIND Donating needed goods and services is another way to build the strength of Southern Miss Athletics, while offering the donor a tax deduction for the fair market value of the gift. There is no other feeling like going out in The Rock and playing in front of our true fans. Donations to the Eagle Club are vital because they enable our brotherhood to form by providing scholarships. And those scholarships not only allow us to bond as a team, but also give many of us the opportunity to become college graduates, which will, in turn, allow us to provide for our future families.
