Division P MEDICAL, HEALTH CARE AND WELFARE Overview of the Division This Division comprises establishments engaged in providing services related to medical care, public health and hygiene, social insurance, social welfare, and nursing care. Medical and other health services includes establishments engaged in providing medical treatment or similar medical services to patients by doctors, dentists or the like, and those engaged in providing services directly related to these medical services. Public health and hygiene includes establishments engaged in providing services related to the public health and hygiene involving public health centers, health consultation offices, quarantine stations (except animal and plant quarantine stations), etc. Social insurance, social welfare and nursing care services includes establishments engaged in social insurance operations such as the public pension scheme, public medical insurance, public nursing insurance, and workers injury compensation insurance, and those engaged in providing services related to social welfare, care, etc. to children, the aged, handicapped persons, etc. Relationship between MEDICAL, HEALTH CARE AND WELFARE and other industries (1) Relationship with WHOLESALE AND RETAIL TRADE Establishments primarily engaged in filling prescriptions written out by doctors or dentists are classified in the Division I WHOLESALE AND RETAIL TRADE [6033]. (2) Relationship with FINANCE AND INSURANCE Establishments engaged in insurance operations other than social insurance, and those engaged in providing insurance services to insurance companies and policyholders are classified in the Division J FINANCE AND INSURANCE [67]. - 1 -

Major group 83 MEDICAL AND OTHER HEALTH SERVICES Overview of the Major group This Major group comprises establishments engaged in providing medical treatment or similar medical services to patients by doctors, dentists, or the like, and those engaged in providing services directly related to these medical services. Group Class 830 ESTABLISHMENTS ENGAGED IN ADMINISTRATIVE OR ANCILLARY ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES (83 MEDICAL AND OTHER HEALTH SERVICES) 8300 Head offices primarily engaged in managerial operations This refers to the establishments, as the head offices primarily engaged in controlling establishments of medical and other health services, engaged in the operations except the work-site operations such as managing and controlling operations across the whole organization to promote the management of the own company. 8309 Miscellaneous establishments engaged in administrative or ancillary economic activities This refers to the establishments engaged in support operations of transportation, cleaning, repair/maintenance, preservation, to other establishments belonging to the same enterprise, to primarily promote activities in the medical and other health services. 831 HOSPITALS 8311 General hospitals This refers to the establishments engaged in medical activities, with facilities to hospitalize patients more than 20 people in which doctor or dentist provide medical treatment. However, those which have sickbeds for only mental patient are classified in Industry 8312. 8312 Mental hospitals This refers to the establishments which have facilities to hospitalize only - 2 -

mental patients 20 of more people for doctors to provide their medical activities. 832 CLINICS OF MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS 8321 Clinics with 19 beds or less This refers to the establishments which have facilities to hospitalize 19 or less people for doctors to provide their medical activities. 8322 Clinics without beds This refers to the establishments without facilities to hospitalize patient or where doctors provide medical activities only by making house call. 833 DENTAL CLINICS 8331 Dental clinics This refers to the establishments engaged in dental activities with facilities to hospitalize patient or where dentists provide dental activities only by making house call or those which have facilities for fewer than 20 patients. 834 MATERNITY CLINICS AND NURSING 8341 Midwives This class comprises establishments in which midwives practice midwifery (except when practiced in hospitals or clinics). Establishments in which midwives practice midwifery only on an external basis are also included in this class. 8342 Nursing This class comprises establishments in which nurses or practical nurses register for agency work with Public Employment Security Offices or the Association of Agency Nurses and practice nursing, or practice nursing independently. 835 OTHER HEALTH PRACTITIONERS 8351 Offices of masseuses, chiropractors, acupuncturists, moxacauterists and judo-orthopedists This class comprises establishments in which masseuses, chiropractors, acupuncturists, moxacauterists and judo-orthopedists engage in their respective practices, including cases in which these persons only engage in such practices - 3 -

on an external basis. 8359 Miscellaneous offices of other health practitioners This class comprises establishments in which persons engaged in the practice of heat therapy, light therapy, electrotherapy, irritation therapy and other practices similar to medical services conduct their business, including cases in which these persons only engage in such practices on an external basis. 836 SERVICES INCIDENTAL TO MEDICAL 8361 Dental laboratories This class comprises establishments in which dentists or dental technicians create, repair or process dental prosthetics, fillings or orthodontic appliances to be used in dental surgery for specific persons. 8369 Miscellaneous services incidental to medical This refers to the establishments engaged in providing services incidental to medical and other health services such as the mediation of the internal organs, and laboratory test related to medical care. - 4 -

Major group 84 PUBLIC HEALTH AND HYGIENE Overview of the Major group This Major group comprises establishments engaged in providing services related to the public health and hygiene involving public health centers, health consultation offices, quarantine stations (except quarantine stations of animal and plant). Group Class 840 ESTABLISHMENTS ENGAGED IN ADMINISTRATIVE OR ANCILLARY ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES (84 PUBLIC HEALTH AND HYGIENE) 8400 Head offices primarily engaged in managerial operations This refers to the establishments, as the head offices primarily engaged in controlling establishments of public health and hygiene, engaged in the operations except the work-site operations such as managing and controlling operations across the whole organization to promote the management of the own company. 8409 Miscellaneous establishments engaged in administrative or ancillary economic activities This refers to the establishments engaged in support operations of transportation, cleaning, repair/maintenance, preservation, to other establishments belonging to the same enterprise, to primarily promote activities in the public health and hygiene. 841 PUBLIC HEALTH CENTERS 8411 Public health centers This class comprises public health centers that are set up in prefectures, municipalities or special districts for the purpose of improving and promoting public health through the prevention of various diseases, health management, health promotion, improvement of environmental hygiene, etc. 842 HEALTH CONSULTATION OFFICES 8421 Health consultation offices for tuberculosis This class comprises establishments that give advice and guidance concerning the prevention, treatment and other aspects of tuberculosis. - 5 -

8422 Health consultation offices for mental health This class comprises establishments that give advice and guidance concerning the prevention, treatment, social rehabilitation and other mental health aspects concerning mental diseases or disorders. 8423 Health consultation offices for maternal and child care This class comprises establishments that give advice and guidance concerning the health of mothers, babies and infants, as well as offering various consultation on maternal and child care. 8429 Miscellaneous health consultation offices This class comprises establishments engaged in health consultation that are not classified elsewhere. 849 OTHER PUBLIC HEALTH AND HYGIENE 8491 Quarantine stations, except animal and plant quarantine This class comprises establishments engaged in preventing the pathogens of infectious diseases that are not ordinarily resident in Japan from entering Japan by means of ships or aircraft, as well as taking necessary measures for the prevention of infectious diseases in relation to ships or aircraft. 8492 Inspection and testing services This class comprises establishments engaged in conducting inspections and tests necessary for the prevention of epidemics, health management, promotion of health, improvement of environmental hygiene, etc. 8493 Disinfecting services This class comprises establishments engaged in disinfection necessary for health and hygiene, such as the prevention of infectious diseases. Establishments engaged in controlling crop pests are classified under Division A AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY [013], while those that disinfect buildings and control pests such as termites are classified under Division R SERVICES, N.E.C. Major group 85 SOCIAL INSURANCE AND SOCIAL WELFARE Overview of the Major group This Major group comprises establishments engaged in providing services for social insurance, social welfare and nursing care services and those engaged in offender rehabilitation services. 853 CHILD WELFARE SERVICES 8531 Day nursery This class comprises establishments engaged in welfare services involving the daily care of babies or infants under entrustment from their parents or guardians. 8539 Miscellaneous child welfare services This class comprises establishments engaged in welfare services for babies, infants, and children that are not classified elsewhere. 854 WELFARE SERVICES FOR THE AGED AND CARE SERVICES, EXCEPT HOME CARE HELP SERVICES 8541 Special nursing homes for the elderly This class comprises establishments engaged in providing care services to elderly persons who require constant care or for whom home care would be difficult, or other persons in need of care in circumstances similar to these. 8542 Health care facilities for the elderly requiring long-term care This class comprises establishments engaged in nursing, care under medical management, physiotherapy, and other necessary medical care for persons in need of care whose condition is stable. 8543 Day care short stay services for the aged This refers to the establishments engaged in providing care service in everyday life and function training for persons who require nursing care through day care or short stay services. 8544 Home-visit care services This refers to establishments engaged in providing nursing care and other everyday life care such as bathing and meals in the houses of the person who require care. 8545 Group homes for the aged with dementia This class comprises establishments engaged in nursing and other daily care as well as physiotherapy in homes collectively occupied by persons in need of care for dementia who are in a relatively stable condition. - 9 -

8546 Fee charging homes for the aged This refers to the establishments engaged in providing accommodation and meals or other necessary convenience in everyday life to the aged persons with fee charging for lump-sum money for moving in etc. 8549 Miscellaneous welfare services for the aged and care services This class comprises establishments engaged in elderly welfare and care services that are not classified elsewhere. 855 WELFARE SERVICES FOR DISABLED PERSONS 8551 Residence support services This refers to establishments engaged in providing to the handicapped persons who enter the facilities, bathing service, excretion care or meals, knowledge and training necessary improvement of physical function or quality of life, for working and for improvement of the ability, care of everyday life, and other convenience. 8559 Miscellaneous welfare services for disabled persons This refers to the establishments primarily engaged in welfare services for disabled persons which are not elsewhere classified. 859 MISCELLANEOUS SOCIAL INSURANCE, SOCIAL WELFARE AND CARE SERVICES 8591 Offender rehabilitation services This class comprises establishments engaged in offender rehabilitation services designed to aid the rehabilitation of probationers, ex-convicts, etc. 8599 Miscellaneous social insurance, social welfare and care services This class comprises establishments engaged in social insurance, social welfare, and care services that are not classified elsewhere. Establishments that offer welfare services for workers and for members of specific associations and their families are classified under the respective principal contents of their services. - 10 -
