HOW TO ENTER Canadian Broadcasting Corporation ( CBC ) No purchase required. To enter Phase 1 of the Contest, you must visit the CBC website at http://www.cbc.ca/sask and follow the link to http://www.cbc.ca/saskatoon (the Website ) and fill out the on-line entry form during the Phase I Contest Period. Complete the official nomination entry form and submit a photo (a Submission ) of the nominee with your entry to http://www.cbc.ca/sask/features/future40 during the Phase I Contest Period; give answers to the mandatory questions, upload requested photos, and provide your name, the name of your nominee and the requested contact information, then click submit. To be valid, entries must be received by 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 CT. Entry forms and submissions become property of CBC and will not be returned to you. Submissions: Any Submissions you make will be deemed to be Submissions under the cbc.ca Terms of Use available at http://www.cbc.ca/aboutcbc/discover/termsofuse.html#submissions. Any Submissions deemed by CBC to be inappropriate or not suitable for its audience will be disqualified at the sole discretion of CBC. Submissions may not show clothing items bearing business, designer or sports logos or design. Submissions must not infringe the rights of any third party including but not limited to copyright, trademark, privacy and personality rights. You must have consent from any people appearing in the Submissions. Submissions must not: (i) contain threatening, abusive, libelous, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, profane or indecent information of any kind; (ii) violate or encourage anyone to violate any law or regulation; (iii) contain advertising or commercial messages. By making a Submission,
you assign all rights and waive any moral rights you may have in such Submission. You acknowledge that CBC may publish Submissions in whole or in part on any medium (radio, television, internet or other). 2. ELIGIBILITY The Phase I Contest is open to all Saskatchewan residents who 40 years of age and under at the Contest opening date. Nominators can be of any age. For any contestant who has not reached the age of majority, parent, or guardian consent is necessary to enter the Contest. Where appropriate, the terms contestant and winner mean parent or guardian of that person. Employees of CBC may nominate candidates, but CBC employees, as well as such employees immediate family (father/mother, brother/sister, son/daughter) or persons living under the same roof are not eligible to be Contest candidates. 3. PROCEDURE FOR AWARDING PRIZES An independent judging panel ( Judging Panel ) as indicated below will review all eligible entries received during the Phase I Contest Period and select the 40 winners who represent a cross-section of who they deem the best and brightest from all areas of the province, and who the Judging Panel assess, in their sole discretion, as making a significant difference. The winners will not be ranked within the 40. The Judging Panel will comprise of 3 appointed Judges, (2) CBC and (1) Metro Magazine. If a high number of entries are received, CBC will determine in its sole discretion 100 entries to be presented to the Judging Panel for their final decision. CBC Radio One: Saskatoon Morning: Winners 31 to 35 (Thursday) 5:00 PM-6:30 PM CBC-TV: CBC News Saskatchewan: Winners 36 to 40 After evening news: These last 40 will be recapped on the Website. Candidates must tune in to find out if they have won the contest, (CBC is not responsible to notify them through any other means*) and claim their prizes no later than 24 hours after the time they are initially announced (some on The Morning Edition between 6:00 and 8:30am and others on CBC News Saskatchewan at 5:50, and 6:00 pm between March 17 and March 20, 2014). To claim their prizes, winners must contact either CBC Saskatchewan by calling (306) 347-9714 or CBC Saskatoon by calling 306-956-7426 or by sending a private message through the CBC Saskatchewan or CBC Saskatoon Facebook pages. Winners will then be asked to verify their eligibility. If a winner is determined to be ineligible, fails to contact CBC Saskatchewan within the 24 hours, declines the prize, or fails to return the required release form, the prize shall be forfeited and CBC has the right, at its sole discretion, to select another winner. *CBC reporters may contact winners for profile stories, but candidates should not rely on that possibility as the way to find out they have won. A CBC Saskatchewan Future 40 engraved award for your office or workplace. Exposure for you, your business, your community group on CBC Saskatchewan's web site at cbc.ca/sask and cbc.ca/saskatoon for 12 months. Exclusive rights to promote you, your business or your community group as a CBC Saskatchewan Top 40 finalist in any publicity or promotional materials. Winners who cannot attend the event will have their prize mailed to them. All winners who are determined eligible and who are in attendance at the Reception are also eligible for a grand prize random draw. The draw will be conducted by CBC hosts at the event. The first selected contestant will win.
A second prize will be awarded on Monday, March 24 to the grand prize winner of the Phase II Contest (see Contest Rules Phase II). Both prize winners are subject to meeting all the conditions described in these rules. If the winner of the Phase II Contest receiving the most votes is ineligible, the prize will be forfeited without compensation and the runner up in the Phase II Contest will be awarded the second prize. 4. To enter Phase II of the Contest, you must visit CBC website at http://www.cbc.ca/sask and follow the link to http://www.cbc.ca/saskatoon (the Website ) where you can vote from the list of winners of the Phase I Contest. Voting takes place beginning Friday, March 21, 2014 at 6:00 am through Sunday, March 23 until 12 midnight, 2014. The person who receives the most votes at the end of the voting period will be named the grand prize draw winner as per the prize description above. Voting is limited to one vote per person for Phase II Contest. If you attempt or are suspected of attempting to enter more than once, or use robotic, automatic, programmed or any entry methods not authorized by these rules, it shall be deemed as tampering and will void your entries. To be valid, all votes must be made beginning at 6:00 am on Friday, March 21 through until 12 midnight on Sunday, March 23, 2014 during the Phase II Contest Period. 2. The prize winner is subject to meeting all the conditions described in these rules. If the winner of the Phase II Contest receiving the most votes is ineligible, the prize will be forfeited without compensation and another draw will be held to determine the winner of the Phase II Contest and that winner will be awarded the grand prize. 4. DESCRIPTION OF PRIZES The winner will receive: - One 3G ipad
The total approximate retail value of the prize is $1,040.00. 5. GENERAL RULES 5.1 Each winner shall sign a release declaring their eligibility as stipulated in Section 2 of these rules; agreeing that their name, image and/or voice may be used for advertising purposes related to this Contest free of charge; and releasing CBC, its affiliates as well as its respective directors, officers and employees (the Contest Parties ) from all liability for any damage or loss arising from participation in this Contest or from the awarding, acceptance or use of the prizes. Anyone accompanying the winner in connection with the prize shall sign a release agreeing that their name, image and/or voice may be used for advertising purposes related to this Contest free of charge, and releasing the Contest Parties from all liability for any damage or loss arising from use of the prize. 5.2 The prize shall be accepted as is and may not be exchanged or refunded for an amount of money, sold or transferred. No substitutions will be allowed. Any unused portion of a prize will be forfeited. 5.3 If the prize cannot be awarded as described in these rules, CBC reserves the right to substitute a prize or prize component with another of comparable value, as determined in its sole discretion. 5.4 Refusal to accept the prize releases the Contest Parties from any obligation toward the winner. 5.5 If a contestant makes any false statement, (s)he will be automatically disqualified from the Contest. 5.6 The Contest Parties assume no liability for any loss, damage or injury, including without limitation: (i) lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late, destroyed, illegible or incomplete entries; (ii) loss, theft or damage to software or computer or telephone data, including any breach of privacy; (iii) fraudulent calls; (iv) inability of any person to participate in the Contest for any reason including mistaken addresses on mail or e-mail; technical, computer or telephone malfunctions or other problems with computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, or software; congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination of the foregoing; (v) damage to any person s computer, including as a result of playing or downloading any material relating to the Contest; (vi) any delay or inability to act resulting from an event or situation beyond their control, including a strike, lockout or other labour dispute at their location or the locations of the organizations and businesses whose services are used to administer this Contest; or (vii) prizes that are lost, damaged or misdirected during shipping.
5.7 CBC reserves the right to cancel or suspend this Contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond their reasonable control corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, CBC reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. 5.8 All personal information, such as name and contact information, is collected by CBC solely for the purposes of administering this Contest and shall not be used for any other purpose without your express consent. By providing this information, you consent to it being used for the stated purposes. Please see CBC s privacy policy at http://www.cbc.ca/aboutcbc/discover/privacy.html. 5.9 If the identity of a contestant is disputed, the authorized account holder of the e- mail address submitted at the time of entry will be deemed to be the contestant. The individual assigned to the e-mail address for the domain associated with the submitted e- mail address is considered the authorized account holder. A selected contestant may be required to provide proof that (s)he is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the selected entry. All entries must be submitted from a valid e-mail account that may be identified by reverse domain name search. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of receipt of a valid entry in this Contest will be the Contest server. 5.10 Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries. All entries that are incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, using any robotic, automatic programmed method that artificially increases the odds of winning or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of the rules may be disqualified by the CBC. CBC is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest. 5.11 CBC reserves the right to amend the Contest rules or to terminate the Contest at any time without any liability to any contestant.
